"I'm not interested in bombs" The geopolitical privilege is strong with this British socialist. To borrow from an old Greek adage: just because you do not take an interest in bombs, doesn't mean that bombs won't take in interest in you. Pull your head out of the sand, Jeremy.

The Prime Minister should make a statement to Parliament, immediately, to confirm whether UK missiles have been fired into Russia. He must tell the British public if this means we are now at war with a nuclear power, what risk this poses to people in Britain, and why this action…

Putin's Russia isn't an ideological state. It has no need of "doctrine." It's a mafia state run by thugs. "Doctrine" is whatever Putin wants to do at any given moment. So don't fall for some "new doctrine" as if it's a trigger or red line that Putin will have to observe. /5

Great read supported by novel data. The way that elevator availability has changed intra-building relationships really resonated with me, and we are some of the people lucky enough to live in a 9 storey Brezhnevka.

Texty.org.ua analyzed data from hundreds of Telegram bots, where thousands of Kyiv residents tracked each power outage daily to understand the scale of Kyiv’s blackouts this summer — an unfortunate situation that may soon return. texty.org.ua/articles/11381…

“Unbreakable” reads the sign in Kharkiv, while despair is carved into its walls. Kharkiv stands, not unbreakable, but unwilling to break, its spirit stretched thin across the ruins. Yet resilience alone cannot shield a city under constant fire. Since day one, russian forces have…

It was 11pm. I was cleaning my bathroom and hearing a distant chatter coming through my window from the outside - some kids were still playing on the playground. Suddenly, i heard a loud explosion. Those kids started screaming in panic. Ordinary russians are bombing Kyiv again.

If you are a Westerner in Moscow you have an obvious ethical responsibility to get the next flight out of Russia.

If you are a Westerner in Moscow still I would be getting the next flight out.

This rules! But: There are still western journalists living in Russia. As the last two years have demonstrated, they are unable to conduct real journalism from Moscow. They are but liabilities, waiting to be kidnapped and ultimately exchanged for Russia's top hitmen and spies.

Why so many Ukrainians speak russian? Let me explain. But first, let me ask you a question: Why do Irish and Scotts speak English, Catalans and Basques speak Spanish, Bretons speak French, etc. You probably know the answer. You probably know the short answer. 1/n

Welcome home, Julian Assange. Though the geopolitical context has changed remarkably since you first sought asylum 12 years ago, I have not forgotten how you brought truth to light, nor will I forget the way the media betrayed you all these years. Breathe in those eucalypts.

This headline takes the cake. Inexplicably bad. So inexplicable that the only explanation is malicious intent.

Putin pledges a cease-fire in Ukraine if Kyiv withdraws from occupied regions and drops NATO bid apnews.com/article/putin-…

"CONTESTED" There is nothing "contested" about the status of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia or Kherson. Or Crimea, for that matter. Russia agreed to Ukraine's borders in 1991 Russia violated international law in 2014 @FT, @maxseddon, @ChristopherJM, @polinaivanovva-you guys ok?

Just in: Russian president Vladimir Putin has said Russia will immediately cease fire and begin negotiations to end the war in Ukraine if Kyiv withdraws troops from four contested regions on.ft.com/3Ru7WtX

A call for an honest conversation. A voice that dearly needs to be heard right now.

“It often feels like Palestinians have become pawns for activists.” Israel killed 31 members of his family in Gaza. In a powerful personal essay, @AFAlkhatib tells The FP the pro-Palestine protest movement is just making it worse for his people. thefp.pub/3KHKequ

As time passes, everything can melt into one big blur of pain and anger, and we can forget some of the most evil moments of this war. But yeah, a year ago I was reporting from the centre of an operation evacuating civilians from a flood, when Russia shelled it. That happened.

On this day a year ago, Russian occupiers blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant's dam and structures. It was a deliberate and premeditated crime, one of their most serious crimes against the environment and people in our entire region. It is also impossible to estimate…

How it started | How it's going Weird that you wouldn't want to discuss/defend your thesis with the people it directly impacts (Ukrainians), is it not? @jamespattison and @luke_glanville

James, military aid prevents Ukrainians from being forcibly displaced from their homes. RU invasion exacerbates health problems and poverty in UA. Below is what RU does to our forests when we don't have enough means to defend ourselves. Do you think it's better for the planet?

USA putting the "late" in "escalate" — but result is that the citizens of Kharkiv are now just that little bit safer now that this insane restriction has been (partially) lifted. Russian S300 terrorist crews not so much.

The first S-300/S-400 🔥 System was destroyed on Russian Territory with US supplied HIMARS Missiles by Ukraine 🇺🇦 The strike took place ~48km from Ukraine, in the Belgorod Region of Russia. At least two S-300/S-400 launchers and several S-300/400 vehicles were destroyed
