Today 185 years ago the Newport Rising took place the largest Chartist March in Welsh history. When 4000+ from across the South Wales Valleys marched on the Westgate Hotel in Newport demanding a better democracy. I donโt feel this event gets near the attention it deserves.1/6
Question for the Labour government why has it allocated just ยฃ25 million to clear coal tips in Wales when it will cost over ยฃ600 million? Theyโve had decades to pay the money to make them safe. Yet more than 300 are still classified as dangerous! Labour doesnโt care about us!
Agreed! It also would make absolutely no sense to end HS2 in Birmingham. We need the full Y-shaped network extending to Manchester and Leeds. It's time to get UK rail back on track.

The Passenger Railway Services (Public Ownership) Bill does not facilitate public ownership. Public won't own rolling stock. It will be leased from companies who could make ยฃ2bn profit a year. Govt handing ยฃ2bn to companies? It can easily be avoided. youtube.com/watch?v=rVBZH1โฆ

Amazing article by Ekua and Sam HS2 is far from perfect, but phase 1 is mostly built, we need to make sure it is built in full, to Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester, that people affected are properly compensated, and that there is proper environmental and financial oversight
