I am back to the original problem(s) described with no real-time heart rate or steps.
Also, Steps only updates on manual sync, There are no real-time steps in Fitbit app. I went back to my Sense 2 and it is working correctly on same Fitbit App...just a different device used. I did a factory reset on my Pixel 2 and reinstalled it.
Upgraded from Sense 2 to Pixel 2 watch. Real-time heart rate shows on Pixel 2 both on Today tab and Heart rate tile. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are linked. Fitbit app shows a range of heart rates upon manual sync but there is no real time heart rate while exercising.
