The difference between human-drawn bad bicycles and AI-generated photorealistic 5-6 legged horses is important and insightful. Humans are largely unable to reproduce the visual likeness of something. But they know what the parts are (2 wheels + 2 pedals + handbar + saddle).

if you’re an academic participating in the ~post-doc and grad student salary discourse~ but you have generational wealth and/or a partner who makes high six figures and subsidizes your cost of living please be sure to mention that early on so I can mute you thanks in advance xoxo

Hi Academic Twitter 👋🏻 are there any active PhD Discord servers out there? If so, please link it below. Thanks 😄 @AcademicChatter @PhDVoice #phdchat #phdvoice #phdlife #AcademicTwitter

One of the best lessons I learned as a doc student was to not take feedback personally. Instead of being upset that there are edits to make, I'm thankful for meaningful insights and questions that will make the end result that much better! #AcademicTwitter #PhDchat @PhDVoice

Question for #AcademicTwitter: What makes a great review for you as the reader? We'd love to know your thoughts! 😀 @AcademicChatter #AcademicChatter

Don’t let the job requirements scare you away. Role descriptions are written for supersapiens who don’t exist. Apply! @PhDVoice #phdlife

A reminder that science communication is a job and its absolutely ok for scientists to be paid for the work they do communicating science over and above their day job.

I received a series of rejections this week. It hurts, i won’t deny it. When I started to internalize them, I called one of my bros and he helped me remember that I’m so much more than any opportunity or accomplishment. In short it’s okay to let your folks know when youre down ❤️

These days, struggling with anxiety and fear to be taken to one of these terrifying quarantine facilities, this is one of the most difficult times for me: Total and hard lockdown, daily PCR tests, very limited food and worst of all: an atmosphere of total panic. #China #Lockdown

If you feel weird about citing yourself, look on the bright side - at least you’re agreeing with yourself. Things could be worse.😅 #PhDVoice @PostdocVoice
