Hard to believe a country with more than 110 new gas & coal mines seeking approval…a country thats subsidising new fossil fuel projects…would get called out for hypocrisy when it agrees the world (not Australia) should phase out fossil fuels…#COP28 #climate #auspol

The Wellbeing Framework smartly looks at innovation. And yet it measures this by counting the number of trademarks! Is a new logo really a measure of greater innovation? How about measuring public spending on R&D? 4/7 australiainstitute.org.au/post/the-wellb…

The Wellbeing Framework according to the Treasurer, “helps us put … fairness and opportunity at the very core of our thinking”. But astoundingly it lacks any substantive measure of poverty. @JackLThrower argues poverty surely "matters". 3/7 australiainstitute.org.au/post/no-one-le…

Major Australian banks say they're committed to the Paris Agreement, yet they're providing long-life finance to fossil fuel companies through bonds – like the mammoth $1.3 billion bond for gas company Santos that @ANZ_AU and @Westpac helped provide in September. #ClimateCrisis

Scams are a global problem that require a global solution. That’s why over 20 consumer groups from around the world are calling on governments to require social media and other tech companies to better protect people from scams. Add your name: choice.com.au/stoponlinescams

What could go wrong with sending in massive machines to scrape away the seabed? Other than dead marine life, destroyed ecosystems, and poisoned water, that is. Join the urgent campaign to stop deep-sea mining! #StopDeepSeaMining #DefendTheDeep secure.avaaz.org/campaign/en/de…

Native forests are priceless - ending native forest logging is critical. Australia has enough plantations to meet its timber needs and there is no excuse for ongoing flattening of precious forests and endangered species that depend on these forests. #politas

Michael Pezzullo got his Order of Australia in 2020 “for distinguished service to public administration”. His breaches of the APS Code of Conduct are known to have been occurring as early as 2016. He should be stripped of his AO. #auspol

IF it worked (80% of CCS projects have failed) including Chevron’s massive Gorgon project running at 1/3 it’s expected capacity, it wouldn’t capture larger scope 3 emissions. Should listen to IEA and leave new fossil fuel projects in the ground.

The NT Govt has just declared the largest water allocation in NT history for cotton and fracking. It allocates a massive 210 billion litres per year from an aquifer that keeps the major rivers flowing. Big business over communities, every damn time. abc.net.au/news/2023-11-1…

We must condemn these attacks on hospitals. In war, doctors, nurses and paramedics must be protected to safely do their lifesaving work. Small humanitarian pauses are not enough. We need a ceasefire now & the immediate release of all hostages. theguardian.com/world/2023/nov…

We can't let the Murdoch Press continue to peddle lies and fear, blocking initiatives to fight disinformation in Australia. I just signed a petition to call on the government to defend our democracy from their influence. Can you do the same? getup.to/jjMJBIqgmIJkBIa

Saying the quiet part out loud...🙃 When the opposition wouldn't cooperate with the government attempting to ram through their favour for Santos - the Sea Dumping Bill - this happened: "You said no to Santos." "You said no to Woodside. " "You said no Inpex." #auspol

I #FOI’ed Defence for docs that “relate to the defence or national security implications of climate change” but every document, every page, every paragraph, every sentence, every word is too sensitive to share with Australians. Challenge pending #auspol #secrecy #ClimateEmergency

The QLD Palaszczuk Government has approved a new coal mine and released $21 million in public subsidies for gas companies ON THE SAME DAY. This is total climate criminality. lockthegate.org.au/palaszczuk_gov…
