New collaboration, new report, new opportunities. See The Energy Geeks new report with suggestions of quick wins to get us to Clean Power 2030 and onto Net Zero. linkedin.com/posts/rogerhey…
Read @UtilityWeek’s new report, created in association with @Lucyelectric: The keys to the DSO kingdom. There didn’t use to be a requirement for detailed visibility of low-voltage networks, but that’s changing fast. bit.ly/4eLMJFy #Utilities #LucyElectric
This shows intent. Next we need defined responsibilities and deadlines for substantive actions.
As @neso_energy has highlighted, we need to connect clean power projects quickly & reform the outdated connections queue. We've set out our grid priorities with @ofgem to achieve #CleanPower2030 so we can benefit from cheaper, more secure electricity. 👇 gov.uk/government/pub…
Congratulations to all those appointed. There’s a massive challenge ahead requiring vision, leadership and delivery. Some brave decisions will need to be made.
Our 2030 clean power unit to accelerate the mission to decarbonise the grid is up and running. The unit will be supported by 8 energy industry experts to help us get there. Their first meeting was today, chaired by @StarkClimate and introduced by @Ed_Miliband More info 👇
Proud to see my former colleague Lee talk about his sight loss and becoming a gay representative. 👏
On #WorldSightDay, our Apps Specialist Lee talks candidly about his sight loss and how he's helping to build a better workplace for all colleagues, including those with disabilities. He explains how two of our special employee groups are bringing people together to make an…
At the end of this month, coal power generation in England ENDS after 142 years. This is effectively the conclusion of the Industrial Revolution 🇬🇧 My dear friend @RobBurnett92 and I will treat X to an informative thread on the evolution from Holborn Viaduct to last one standing
I think this is called a win-win for everyone involved.

It’s good to be back. The potential to drive value for customers from reimagining regulation are huge. #UWL24
This is a great mythbuster!
BUT, BUT, BUT…. Just bury it underground. Not as simple as that… Part 1 👇🏻
The UK is much better placed than many think to scale up net zero companies in tech, services and manufacturing.
📢 | NEW REPORT: Britain has lost over one-third of its manufacturing strengths since the 1990s. But the net zero transition presents a perfect opportunity to revitalise UK manufacturing. In this paper we look at the products Britain should be building. ippr.org/articles/manuf…
Funny as I was only discussing import tariffs on Chinese goods earlier today. There’s no easy answer, but trying to stop a tsunami of cheap EVs and solar/storage feels a little futile.
Actually we could go further still, because China is also utterly dominant when it comes to the refining of the materials that then go into the chemicals that then go into the cells which go into the EVs. In the electric car supply chain, it's China all the way down.
SAF has a critical role to play in the decarbonisation of aviation. The U.K. has fantastic thought leadership and net zero legislation. But we seem to struggle turning these into an actual ambition to build the industrial facilities to deliver.
UK govt may have postponed its deadline for the sale of non-electric cars, but it’s sticking with its 2030 target to raise the share of sustainable aviation fuel to 10%. Problem is, the folks charged with making that fuel think the plan is not enough… gov.uk/government/new…
The end of the industrial revolution
A big moment in Britain's industrial story happened today. The coke ovens at the Port Talbot steelworks were closed. This was where they baked the coal used to make millions of tonnes of steel. What you're looking at here is the last coke ever made in the UK. Pix: @TataSteelUK
