Wonderful coverage of Dacre Stoker visiting his family tomb at St John’s Cathedral and unveiling a history display by Sligo Stoker Society

On a visit to Sligo, Dracula author Bram Stoker's great-grandnephew says he believes the town's cholera epidemic of 1832 inspired the novel

#LoveSligo I've heard great things about @CarolineBusher from the @SligoStoker

We just had an incredible morning at Sligo Central Library with author, @CarolineBusher and first year students from Mercy College secondary school. Caroline read from her Sligo-set vampire book, The Legend of Valentine Sorrow, and students asked lots of curious questions.

St Patricks Day in #Sligo in 1887 The National festival was observed with great enthusiasm and was honoured in a way worthy of the day. Vast numbers attended at the early Masses, and the National Hymn was sung at 10 am Mass in the Cathedral by school children

It will be great to have an indoor tourism attraction in Sligo town. #unlockingsligogaol estimated to bring 55k visitors. It will be interactive with the Treadmill Yard experience and the Executioner’s area. Also, re-using the Governors House and Marshalsea.

Béal na mBláth feels like the most depressing place in Ireland to visit. The ambush site seems to ooze sadness. Someone left this small statue of Collins at the foot of the monument and its been broken, which oddly chimes with the spirit of the place
