If you don't support library staff, you don't support libraries. If you don't support library staff, you don't support libraries. If you don't support library staff, you don't support libraries. If you don't support library staff, you don't support libraries. If you don't support
A nice moment today: a patron excitedly telling us that she passed the citizenship exam thanks to the help of the library citizenship class teacher. ♥️ #LibrariesChangeLives
I wld love to move all my tax dollars from war and genocide to feeding hungry children.
It's not free. It's paid for by taxpayers. And why should people pay for the "free" lunch of other people's children? Feeding your kids is the responsibility of parents. And if there are cases of social disadvantage where some kids aren't getting fed then we have a welfare…
Helped a class of 4th graders check out books. One of the kids took out a copy of one of our circulating encyclopedias. I asked him what made him choose that? He said "I want to discover the world." 😭❤️ #librarylife
I do hope you all still continue to actively care about NYC libraries even when Eric Adams is a distant political memory, I'm just saying.
In "remember that time I got published?" news, I got this nice note from a kid at my library who read EDWARD GETS MESSY. (@OlgaSternart) 🐷♥️
I wish I could remember which 1918 doc it was I watched but at least *three times* the narrator was like “they declared the pandemic over, but they were to experience the largest amount of deaths yet” and I think about that at least three times a week.
Wow glad we learnt from the 1918 pandemic can you imagine
"This is a skibidi-free zone!" is something I just said to a group of children in the library. AND BY GOD I MEANT IT.
Today was soul-crushing, but also a kid gave me this and for a moment my soul un-crushed itself:
At some point is leadership going to start caring about COVID again? Anyone? Anything? We'll just keep getting it over and over forever, yeah?
A kid's contribution to a discussion about library rules during a class visit: "You are allowed to cry in the library, but not too loud." You don't even KNOW how right you are, kid.
