Please remember that land border crossings here are still largely closed for Belarusians. I am hearing concerns in Minsk that if flight bans come into place, they could be left unable to travel to the EU completely.

"For a start, we should ban Belavia, the Belarusian national airline, from European airspace" Radek Sikorski, former Polish Foreign Minister, also says the Belarus President Lukashenko should answer charges at the International Criminal Court #R4Today bbc.in/3vhtA7t

This week's glorious but wildly impractical work-from-home set up.

Friends just got home after hiding in a nearby flat & said they went from being dejected and scared to hopeful again after seeing the protests as a top story on Euronews TV this evening. Please don’t underestimate the power of international attention.

People are gathering and marching to honour Raman Bandarenka all over Belarus. Security forces are brutally dispersing columns of protesters. Mobile internet is down. Here they are shouting “I’m going out”, his final message.

I spoke with some brilliant activists in Belarus — including one of the organisers of the first women’s protest — about why the feminist narrative is too simplistic. & thank you to @Openly_Biased for the great insights! conversationalist.org/2020/11/06/the…

This is a protest in Minsk now made up of pensioners & students. The strike seems to be stronger with private companies & universities than state factories, but it has successfully reinvigorated the protest movement. Arrests today of striking workers, solidarity lines & students

From Victory square to Oktyabrskaya square stretched the column of protesters. #StandWithBelarus #Belarus source:@svaboda

Incredible scenes again in Minsk. Belarusians have gathered all over the country. This is in spite of very real concern of provocations, possible arrest and violence, and road/metro closures.

🔉The huge column of people has turned away from the Stella and is now moving towards the centre of the city. On the background you can hear the official voice claiming the illegality of this march, posters, slogans and flags. #Belarus

More than a hundred thousands people have already gathered by the Stella in #Minsk with more and more people approaching from different boroughs. #Belarus

This is Minsk right now. The authorities are doing everything they can to prevent people gathering in the city today. 12 metro stations closed, mobile internet down, people searched on the streets, journalists detained, roads & pavements blocked.

На пересечении улиц Ленина и Интернациональной появилось оцепление силовиков со щитами

Incredible scenes in Minsk again today, and in smaller cities across Belarus. The visual of thousands still on the streets may help when it comes to motivating new strikes after the 25th. This weekend was crucial to demonstrate that they still have the momentum. @nashaniva

This week the interior ministry announced that security forces will use live ammunition if necessary, yet thousands are still on the streets peacefully demanding new & honest elections. The protests are not dying down.

This is the current size of the protesting column @motolkohelp #StandWithBelarus #Belarus

The Partisans March is beginning in Minsk. The route goes down Partyzanski prospect & passes the factory region. Mobile internet is already largely down, metro stations closed & security forces are positioned along the route. Photos @motolkohelp

This is a child’s drawing celebrating Mother’s Day last Wednesday. You can see the version drawn and then the version displayed. Children’s drawings now a threat to the regime.

Today there are two marches in Minsk - one of students and one of women. Here are the women heading towards the city centre approaching Academia Hayuk shouting “look out your window, not at the TV.”
