The re-colonisation of Cors Ddyga & Valley wetlands on Anglesey by Bitterns is a major conservation success. In 2023 there were 7 boomers in 80ha of reedbed. And there is potential for increase. Next stop Norther Ireland? Not sure I’ve heard Bittern & Chough together before.

So @wwf_uk shelved a report exposing the extent of River Wye pollution just ‘to keep Tesco happy’. Too, too many eNOGs are comprised like this, seduced by the perfume of funding, happy and prepared to comprise everything just to meet payroll. Frauds. 🤬 theguardian.com/environment/20…

Been a successful day running a seabird ringing/monitoring trip to Puffin Island. Had an excellent team & lots of good training done. I waved at my tagged Shelduck on the Dee Estuary too. #SeabirdSaturday

For examples of how Honey Buzzard rob combs from wasp nests check out these videos by Stef van Rijn. He managed to film GPS-tracked buzzards robbing both tree and ground nests in the Netherlands youtu.be/4MrD-r2VO9Q youtu.be/Yg6_5Hv6ofI

River Ouse not looking Great. Problems of rivers are widespread. A murky river full of algal plankton when it should be clear & full of aquatic plants. Our rivers are in trouble. The only solution is major land-use change & stronger river regulation @EnvAgency @EnvAgencyAnglia
