At the start of Radio 4’s news at 5pm the BBC promised to explore why the small boats keep coming. It then ran a clip of an articulate, English-speaking woman ‘fleeing persecution’ in Afghanistan. No word from the male economic migrants who make up the vast majority of arrivals.
