Oklaqaeda.

OK State School Supt. Ryan Walters sent an email to all districts today demanding they show students this video of him sitting before a Bible and praying for Donald Trump. But it’s those pesky leftist teacher unions who are indoctrinating kids, right?

Ever heard the story about the oilman and philanthropist who pulled off one of the most elaborate conspiracies of all time? Charles Page turned a fictional boy into a real person and then possessed his estate--worth some $10 million in 1919.

If you love #TrueCrime and #NativeAmericanHistory, @RussellSCobb’s GHOSTS OF CROOK COUNTY is your #FridayRead! He dives down the rabbit hole of a turn-of-the-20th-century scam. @PublishersWkly buff.ly/4eZg939

Will Rogers is remembered as a homespun, aw-shucks cowboy, but he had some choice observations that were quite prescient. "The difference between a bandit and a patriot is a good press agent." --

A modern-day Will Rogers, @RockyMntnMike, grew up in Sand Springs and tweeted at me. When a true Sandite tells me they're reading Ghosts of Crook County, I find my heart filling with a mix of dread and excitement. Page is a sacred cow and my account of him is, well, profane.

Hi. I grew up in Sand Springs. My first real job was for the Home, mowing the grass at the cemetery. Our family’s house was on land once owned by the Home. I’ve always been fascinated by Charles Page, the myth. Your book is giving me another point of view. Thanks for that.

Go on, just add Ryan Walters to this cavalcade of nincompoops.

Charles Page built a public image as father figure who defied elites and used his philanthropy to enrich himself and his friends. Educated Tulsans saw him as a hucktser and a hypocrite, yet the masses adored him. Sound familiar?goodreads.com/book/show/2050…

A defective state with defective titles. #GhostsOfCrookCounty

What if I were to tell you that a legal claim to a vast oil fortune was based on an elaborate conspiracy to make a fictional person a reality?

If he existed at all, Tommy Atkins became known in the press as “the boy with 3 mothers.” Minnie, Nancy, and Sally Atkins all at various points claimed to be the one true mother of the missing millionaire boy. @RussellSCobb buff.ly/486cpKi

“Tommy Atkins would still be an interesting case study in the arbitrary nature of the federal government to determine who is and is not an Indian, and indeed, who is a person.”—@RussellSCobb in convo with @LOLBev buff.ly/3ZYbZ6N

"Cobb dives down the rabbit hole of a turn-of-the-20th-century scam, bringing to light startling revelations about a scheme to steal oil-rich land from Native Americans that reached all the way to the White House." 🔥🔥🔥PW--Best Books of 2024🔥🔥🔥 best-books.publishersweekly.com/pw/best-books/…
