Great night at the neuropsychology of schizophrenia dinner chaired by @RossellSusan with keynote by @ProfTonyDavid & panel discussion inc. @kelly_allott Was great to see many friends in person & many interested in cognition in schizophrenia. Thanks for organising @Boehringer
I am honoured to be selected as the NSW Young Tall Poppy of the Year. Thank you to the AIPS. Community engagement is such an important part of our work. We can work together to make social media a safer place for all users. #YTP24 #TallPoppy @Sydney_Uni
Last night, the 2024 NSW Young Tall Poppy Science Awards celebrated the brightest minds in science! ✨ Congratulations to all the inspiring winners who are pushing the boundaries of innovation and research. Your dedication is shaping a better future for us all! #YoungTallPoppy
We are still recruiting for the VISIBLE study. If you have schizophrenia or a mood disorder, this is your chance to share your perspective on your thinking (cognitive) skill challenges & the research we should be doing to better understand them! tinyurl.com/43z2xpvj
I was interviewed for Sky News on behalf of the AMETHYST team about our trial comparing two psychological therapies for people who hear voices. You can check out the interview and demo of avatar therapy here (1/2) skynews.com.au/lifestyle/heal…
Such important work in BDD- we really need to do more to recognise this disorder.

🧵 5/5: Future research should explore interoceptive disturbances across cultures, their impact on daily activities, and potential repurposing of anti-inflammatory treatments for mental health. Let’s pave the way for more effective and holistic treatments! #FutureResearch
Finally...a huge thanks to the people with lived experience who helped co-construct this work. And to the @wellcometrust for funding.
🧵 4/5: Our findings emphasise the need for alternatives to medication. Psychological interventions focusing on interoception show promise for anxiety & depression, but standardised, comprehensive assessments across different body systems are needed. #PsychologicalInterventions
🧵 3/5: Lived experience was central to our review. People with mental health challenges highlighted the importance of body-focused techniques like mindfulness, but also noted difficulties with consistent practice and the short-lived benefits. #LivedExperience #MentalWellbeing
🧵 2/5: We found that cardiac interoceptive accuracy (heartbeat perception) isn’t consistently impaired in anxiety or depression but may be poorer in psychosis. However, more evidence is needed. Other body systems & interoceptive levels need systematic review. #Research
🧵 1/5: Excited to share our latest research on the role of interoception in anxiety, depression, and psychosis! We reviewed 34 papers to understand how body awareness impacts these mental health conditions. #Interoception #MentalHealth
Delighted to announce our latest umbrella review of interoception in anxiety, depression, and psychosis. A joint effort with wonderful mentors and collaborators @Katlab_UCL @RossellSusan and @AgustinMIbanez Check it out here: sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

On of the nicest things of science is to share results with international colleagues and become inspired by their findings. Best occasion for my team is @SIRSGlobal #sirs2024 youtu.be/nZUKmIDVXNY?si… via @YouTube
