In the three years since I signed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, my Administration has launched over 66,000 projects across the country. And today, we're investing an additional $1.5 billion in the Northeast Corridor, the most heavily trafficked rail corridor in our nation.
I am deeply, deeply disappointed by the results of the election. But make no mistake: my Democratic colleagues and I—unlike many Republicans in 2020—will uphold the will of the American people, fulfill our constitutional duty and help ensure a peaceful transfer of power.
Justice matters to me. Justice matters to us. If it didn't, we wouldn't be so angry when we experience injustice. Our anger proves the point that justice DOES matter. If we give up that belief, that guiding principle, then we will have lost all hope of repairing what's broken.
It's pathetic.
Seniors voted to gut Social Security. Men voted for their wives and daughters to die from miscarriages. Immigrants voted for deportation raids. Poor people voted for tax cuts for billionaires. Women voted to have fewer rights than men. Police voted for a convicted felon.
While I was surprised by Tuesday's results, I wasn't unprepared. The GA and I have protected Illinoisans from the damage Trump may attempt to cause. We've enshrined reproductive rights, built a path to a clean energy future, reaffirmed labor rights, invested in tech, and more.
