This pic seems to me to be quite a good analogy for where we are on climate change more generally tbh.

So far, so good. And it is undoubtedly a success story. But. Floods are getting bigger due to a rapidly changing climate. During the floods of 2020 every flood defence on the Severn & Wye was within 0.5-1.0m of overtopping. It will have been a similar story last week.

Here's "Two-Tier Policing" in action 5 Racists were protected by dozens of police yesterday in Brighton from a huge crowd of peaceful, caring humans The city was shut down for hours, buses rerouted, shops and pubs boarded up, so 5 Racists could exercise their right to be racist

For days, I've wondered why the PM was so slow to call in the army to deal with these riots. Today, I've come to understand why; he knows what the far right is attempting to do. 🧵

ME: The thing is, it’s actually pretty incredible just to *be* in the final two. Turning up, giving all you’ve got and falling short to a better opponent is no shame. In almost every way that matters, second place is a victory in itself CLIENT: *STARES AS IS TAKEN DOWN TO CELLS*

Our prisons are overflowing , yet 5 peaceful protestors have been remanded awaiting sentences for protesting climate breakdown . . . here's a radical idea– stop jailing protestors . They're not the fire , they're raising the alarm ! Thursday @ 4pm Southwark Crown Court

There are many reasons to be cautious - but the tone-shift of this administration is palpable. Great to see such a bold attitude at last.

I am delighted to announce that Chris Stark will be our head Head of Mission Control for Clean Power by 2030. We are bringing together the brightest and best to deliver our national mission to cut bills and make Britain energy independent. Welcome @StarkClimate to the team!

1. This is a thread about a new form of political organising, which proved spectacularly successful in this election, and that other constituencies would do well to adopt. It’s a means of navigating our unfair, unrepresentative first-past-the-post electoral system. 🧵

🗳 #ElectionResults are in ! Of the 32 'Net-Zero Scrutiny Group' members that @DeSmog identified, only 8 were re-elected. That means the 24 MPs most responsible for #climate obstruction were voted out! 🎉🥳 #ClimateActionNow #GeneralElections2024 #GE24 #UKElections2024

One thing I'm particularly looking forward to on #GE2024 election night is checking off the members of the #NetZero Scrutiny Group who lose their seats. We have a real opportunity to disrupt the parliamentary arm of UK climate sceptics. Here's how you can help me 🧵
