Excellent quality and value at Yong Chuan on Orchard Street on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Bottomless dim sum, all freshly prepared to order, for $30 including tea. Highly recommended.

How it started (L); how it ended (R).

Trying to find a use for Martin's @potatorolls ghastly "Sweet Party Rolls" which they've sadly replaced for their excellent and much beloved "Dinner Rolls" by turning them into croutons for stuffing. I hope they bring the classic Dinner Rolls back, tailor made for sliders.

Taiwanese style Salty Crispy Chicken, Xian Su Ji (aka Popcorn Chicken). Chicken nuggets marinated in lots of garlic, soy sauce, and shaoxing wine, battered and dredged in coarse sweet potato starch, double deep fried and tossed in Thai basil, served with BBQ spice condiment.

On the topic of my favorite xiao long bao . . . to wit, Pork and Salted Egg Yolk Soup Dumplings at Linlongfang Xiao Long Bao 麟笼坊特色小笼包 in Shanghai. Very much to my taste. Salted egg yolk somehow makes everything taste better.

Xiao Long Bao at Joe's Shanghai on The Bowery, Chinatown in Manhattan. Still one of the best expressions of soup dumpling in New York 30 years later. The pastry is a bit inelegant compared to Din Tai Fong, but the soup inside is uniquely rich and filled with gelatin.

One of the most brutal ads you’ve ever seen against a politician. Wow. Just watch. 🔥🔥🔥

Taiwanese 3 Cup Chicken. Made with 3 equal "cups" of sesame oil, Shaoxing wine, and soy sauce (50% soy paste, 50% oyster sauce). Ginger, garlic cloves, shallot, and chix are stir-fried in the sesame oil, then braised with the wine, soy sauce, sugar, sliced chili and Holy Basil.
