I’ve never made a political social media post in my life, and I’m 100% comfortable posting this. It’s not political. I’m posting it because my wife is a teacher. And because we have 2 school-aged kids. And because I’m proud to work with @CoachBrentKey and call him a friend.

Though I’m mostly sworn off posting here now, these #jobinterview tips for introverts are too good not to share. Show your self-reflection skills as a strength, share your thought process, and ‘own your fabulousness’. Thanks, @CaffeinatedKyle #JobSeekers forbes.com/sites/forbesco…

Your resume is a marketing document. It highlights your best traits and expertise for your immediate #career goal. It positions you as a ‘product’ in the eyes of ‘buyers’ i.e. hiring managers. #careeradvice #resumeadvice In other words, follow @ShelleyPiedmont’s sequence below.

A successful job search looks like this: figure out first where you are, what you want to do, and how you need to get to your goal, and then execute - make your first step. Don't start with a resume, and then try to figure out what you want to do.

The most undervalued skill of our time is the ability to write. In an analog world, talking was the main currency of communication and connection. In a digital world, there's a growing premium on the capacity to convey thoughts in text. The pen is mightier than the spoken word.

There’s no more difficult word to spell in the English language than ‘zhuzh’. It makes ‘tchotchke’ seem like ‘cat’ by comparison. #zhuzhitup #noitsnotyiddish

“Pretty much anywhere in the world men tend to think that they that are much smarter than women. Yet arrogance and overconfidence are inversely related to leadership talent.” hbr.org/2013/08/why-do…

Fun fact: the word most frequently found in resumes - ‘responsible’ - is also the word that’s the biggest waste of space. Resumes should list accomplishments, not job descriptions. #ResumeTips #jobsearching #career

Here’s 1st-class advice for how to build a professional network on @LinkedIn from a cold start, i.e. no network to begin with. Takes time and effort, but most things worth achieving are like that. It’s simple: help others before you can expect them to help you. #networking career

Odd to say, but the most important part of your #jobsearching prep might be your choice of a file name for your resume. A generic resume.pdf might cost you the interview if the recruiter liked your resume but can’t find it later. #JobSearch

My #resume #tip4day: both first name and surname should be in the filename. I have literally hundreds of Resume.docx in my work inbox. Yours is never the only one the recipient has in theirs, and usually far from it.

Precedent is a poor reason for decisions. It calcifies the status quo without a compelling rationale. It doesn’t matter how long a tradition has stood. If the old way is wrong, it should be challenged and changed. Progress lies in improving the future, not defending the past.
