Today marks 30 years (July 29, 1994) since Binky the polar bear grabbed a foolish tourist at the Alaska Zoo, broke her leg, & famously kept a shoe. The shoe is displayed at the zoo gift shop. Binky died in 1995 from a parasitic disease. #alaskahistory #alaska #anchoragehistory

Celebration 2024 Grand Entrance last night!
The #akleg operating and mental health budgets have now been transmitted to the governor. He has 20 days, Sundays excluded, to exercise line-item vetoes. The budgets are due back from @GovDunleavy on Friday, June 28. The capital budget is still awaiting transmission.
I asked about this earlier today -- Senate President Gary Stevens, R-Kodiak, told me the operating, capital and mental health budgets "should be transmitted this week." #akleg
