Standing up for Kosciuszko’s native wildlife, water catchments & Indigenous heritage from the impacts of introduced horses. It's a park, not a paddock!

The decision to allow aerial shooting of feral horses in Kosci follows years of campaigning by 1000s of ordinary people, led by @ISCAustralia 🙏Thanks to all who rallied, walked, signed, donated, turned up, educated themselves, lobbied MPs & made this possible🐸🦘 @PennySharpemlc

A reminder of the sort of people trying to stop control of feral horses in Kosciuszko NP. When the NSW Supreme Court found aerial shooting is done professionally & humanely, the response from some was to say "shoot the judge". There's no place for disgusting attacks like this.

Sometimes the mask slips & we see what's really motivating politicians who oppose effective control of feral horses in Kosciuszko: They think National Parks are a waste. Nationals MP Wes Fang & Shooters MP Robert Borsak spelled it out last week in the NSW Parliament...

One of Kosciuszko NP's winter secrets - if you want a break from crowded ski resorts, the Thredbo Valley Track is a gently undulating walk through beautiful old growth forest, sheltered from most of the winter winds. In winter it's open only to walkers - so it's very peaceful!

The Reclaim Kosci campaign to save our alpine wildlife & mountain streams from being trashed, trampled and polluted by feral horses depends on the backing from @ISCAustralia - please donate to keep all this good work going: invasives.org.au/donate/

Do you love the work that we do to help save Australia's native wildlife from being trashed, trampled, choked & killed by invasive species? We depend on support from everyday Aussies. With the end of financial year fast approaching, make sure you donate: invasives.org.au/donate/

It took 2 months, but ABC made a correction after the Ombudsman's scathing report found breaches of accuracy & impartiality: abc.net.au/about/ombudsma… Well's conduct is still unresolved though as ABC have said she's on leave & has refused to engage with the internal investigation.

The ABC have quickly corrected inaccuracies in a story they put up yesterday on the issue of feral horses in Kosciuszko NP. A marked difference from the over 2 months it took for a correction after Jamelle Wells' error filled story! Great to see @abcnews abc.net.au/news/2024-06-2…

🌼Botanical photographer Lachlan Copeland just sent us these beautiful images of orchids in Kosciuszko NP. These delicate, unique plants need protection from damage by feral horses, deer & pigs. Sadly, many of these photos were taken in zones designated for 'horse retention'...
