Almost everything we know about deaths and serious injuries on our roads has changed in the past 10 years, and we’re now far behind most of the developed world. Why don’t we take this more seriously? Feature today, @nzherald premium and paper nzherald.co.nz/nz/road-safety…

In April this year, Paris Ville (pop. 2 million) recorded zero road deaths for the month. Here's the one neat trick they used to drastically reduce road danger:

Rush hour in Paris

Dangerous shit parking on favona Rd. I had to go onto a60kph road, with trucks hurtling past. Person saw me taking a pic, so I yelled out I was calling the council. They moved their car a few minutes later. There was an empty parking space behind the houses.

Safety is our top priority! After parking. And avoiding delays for traffic. Safety is one of our top three priorities! If there is funding available. After providing for everybody else's convenience. Safety is a priority! Well, more of a consideration.

This! 1 of motivating factors 4 Arthur Grey Low Traffic Area in Onehunga. Arthur & Grey are used as shortcuts 2 beat traffic on Mt Smart, Church & Neilson & were never designed for 5000 cars per day on them. No one drives slow when using a shortcut, u drive fast 2 beat th traffic

Today a child biking at corner of Skillman & St Pauls was hit by a speeding car attempting to avoid the light at St Pauls & Kennedy. A split second difference could have led to worse. This is an emergency & @JerseyCity needs to treat it as such. @StevenFulop @mjmanzella225 🚨

Looks like they got the space allocation ratios just about right... 🚗🚗🚴🚴‍♂️🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️

It’s easy to look at congestion and blame the adjacent cycle lane because “it looks empty”. Then you realise that the data shows people cycling outnumber cars and taxis on this stretch. Really, it’s just about efficiency.

Absolutely horrifying. Get these vehicles off of the streets. Made me think of this: twitter.com/bontrager_keit…

Am I the only one that remembers Bellis' early attempt at throwing the PM under the bus with that setup Taliban interview about the Red Cross donation and tried to spin it as a donation to the Taliban. Seems sinister now.

We will need to remove the constant references to the Treaty from the law and replace them with a commitment to liberal democracy. One person, one vote, and equality for all in a multi-ethnic nation state.
