Thanks Jason & NPR!

Check out @NPR's @planetmoney covering the still-ongoing fallout from Synapse's bankruptcy, which has seen thousands of customers lose access to their funds. Great insight from @ProfHilaryAllen & commentary from Acting Comptroller Hsu (sadly, my interview didn't make the cut!)

Yay! So honored to be jotted by @AnnMLipton

I jotted! Here's my Jotwell review of Hilary Allen's Interest Rates, Venture Capital, and Financial Stability: corp.jotwell.com/venture-capita…

Like clockwork. News about AI’s limitations is starting to break through the hype, so it’s time for the industry to go to Congress to try and legislate a competitive advantage that the tech can’t sustain on it’s own.

First in THE VAULT: A bipartisan group of members unveiled legislation that would direct federal financial regulators to create “regulatory sandboxes” for financial firms to experiment with artificial intelligence. @BrendanPedersen with the details: punchbowl.news/article/vault/…

Excited that my thought experiment has been published @YaleJREG! With more and more deposits uninsured, and with massive operational failures (viz Crowdstrike) threatening new kinds of triggers for runs, it's worth thinking through the doomsday scenario of a digital bank holiday

In Digital Bank Holidays, @ProfHilaryAllen calls for regulators to consider retooling the banking holiday for our digital age, should such a drastic response ever become necessary. yalejreg.com/print/digital-…

Every word of this thread is spot on. Crypto isn't much of an election issue for anyone except the crypto industry.

But 99% of the money claimed by Stand With Crypto was actually donated to "Fairshake" - a different PAC - and 90% of Fairshake's money comes from a handful of corporate donors: citationneeded.news/issue-62 46/

I'm excited that my article "Reinventing Operational Risk Regulation for a World of Climate Change, Cyberattacks and Tech Glitches" has been published! jcl.law.uiowa.edu/sites/jcl.law.… It's long & wonky as hell, but (imho) provides imp. new ways for thinking about operational resilience.

I don’t know how to put it any more simply. The crypto industry does not make its money from technology; it profits by avoiding regulations that apply to others. This bill will permanently grant the crypto industry exemptions from laws that protect retail investors from harm

Hilary Allen Reposted

Cryptocurrency use declined noticeably in the U.S. last year, according to the Fed's annual survey of 11,400 households. Just 7% of respondents reported touching crypto - and only 1% actually used it to buy something. Don't tell Congress that!
