We are excited to announce the launch of a new version of the @sops4ri toolbox. Now you can find 86 tools, 14 of which were created with the valuable contribution of the stakeholders who participated at the co-creation workshops. sops4ri.eu/toolbox/
Very excited to kick-start @rosie_open cross SwafS stakeholder Forum for responsible open science! This Thursday, 30 September, 15 EC-funded projects are going to share their experiences and best practices.
Delighted to announce that @sops4ri coordinator @MejlgaardNiels is participating at the "Expanding horizons for Research Integrity practice" panel discussion, in the context of the ENRIO2021 Congress (Monday, 27 September, 13.30-14.45 CEST): enrio.eu/congress2021/w…
We only had three years for the #PRORES project, says @GabiLombardo2, and we need a PRO-RES 2 because there is a great deal still to be done.
"We are not going to solve the challenges that Europe faces without a massive injection of #science to help us understand these complex problems and come up with viable solutions", reminds @DavidMair4 (@EU_ScienceHub) during our Final @ProRes14 Conference.
"Politicians have gotten out of the habit of being able to think critically. We need evidence-based policy making but also intelligence-based policy making - we need trustworthy evidence but also politicians that think straight." @rogercasale, Executive Director at @NewEuropeans
☝️ Knowledge doesn’t just come from the scientific environment ➙ think tanks & other non-research organisations. ➙ “Policymakers should cite their sources. Then you know the pathway from evidence to policy. You need that to build a community of trust.” @GabiLombardo2 @epc_eu
In the non-academic sector, says @FabianZuleeg, there are incentives to behave unethically and far less transparency because much of the work is done in informal ways #PRORES
A view from @GabiLombardo2 that politicians are in office for such a short period that they don't think it matters if they tell lies because by the time the truth comes out they will have moved on. #PRORES
And if you are interested in opening up both the scientific and policy processes to more citizen engagement, come and join us at this launch event.
🗓️ Save the date❗Next month we launch our 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝘾𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙣 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 & 𝘿𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝘿𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙘𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙮 which provides services, guidance & tools to support #EUCitizenEngagement in policy making. Info👉 europa.eu/!RkBgTr
Question from #PRORES conference moderator Jacki Davis: how do we incentivize the policy makers? @rogercasale suggests that the incentive is to avoid the potentially catastrophic consequences of policy that is not based on evidence from ethical research.
A call from @DavidMair4 for more work to build on #PRORES progress, and in particular for funders to take note - structural incentives are needed within the research community.
My remarks are based on this @EU_ScienceHub report (available in EN, FR, DE, ES, IT) knowledge4policy.ec.europa.eu/projects-activ…
And @FabianZuleeg extends this to thinktanks, consultancy etc - the influential but inconsistent and unregulated advisory sector #PRORES
Now @GabiLombardo2 who is part of the #PRORES project says scientists need to cite their sources - and moderator Jacki Davis says all knowledge producers need to do this.
