Design matters at side road junctions. How best to enhance priority for crossing 🚸🚵‍♀️? Setback? Two-way cycle track? Zebra? Pleased to share our recent publication that provides the answers: doi.org/10.1080/030810… @TransPlanSoc @ianwalker @RantyHighwayman @Phil_PJA @bricycle

Phil Jones Reposted

In short no. Motorists fail to give way to people crossing far more at conventional/control junctions (57%) than at Design Priority junctions (9-23%) or Marked Priority junctions with zebras (8-18%) – section 4.1.

This is a big moment for Shrewsbury’s @bigtownplan @ShropCouncil Leader @CllrLPicton called it “momentous” - I agree. Once approved by council it needs to be delivered. @NellinsIan @ShrewsburyTC @ShrewsburyBID @sebslater @PhilJonesAssoc @Phil_PJA

Recommendations are supported, cabinet will recommend adoption of the Shrewsbury movement strategy as a formal planning consideration to full council later this month

Hey @Goopt get your team to tell me how to remove @otter_ai, it’s taken over my online meetings and I can’t get rid of the thing.

Do not under any circumstances install @otter_ai on your system. It invades every online meeting and cannot be removed. @otter_ai’s support service provide no solution. Please RT.

Right I have gone through the latest 20mph data for Wales and have made this video. However, I know many of you prefer a thread so I've done that as well. Long story short, 20mph seems to be working VERY well and is already paying for itself. [Thread]

We recently met with TFGM @BeeNetwork, to trial new technology intended to assist blind and partially sighted people cross busy cycle lanes and some bus stop bypasses. It was great to be involved, along with @GDCampaigns @ManCityCouncil @BenAndrewsINC

Cycled in #Pembrokeshire couple of weeks ago. Difference in driving was incredible, slow, considerate and safe. To plagiarise #LPHartley ‘Wales is a foreign country, they drive differently there’.

The @Conservatives manifesto says they will pass legislation, applying to Wales, requiring local consent for 20mph zones. Has anyone told them there are no longer any 20mph zones in Wales?

This must be very uncomfortable for all the people opposing lower speed limits. Thoughts and prayers but ultimately, if you oppose lower speed limits you're endorsing killing people. Good luck with your perspective.

Vehicle damage claims in Wales fall 20% since speed limit cut to 20mph, says insurer theguardian.com/business/artic…

A Flintshire mother has credited the 20mph limit for saving her son's life after he was hit by a car outside his school. Why can't the Tories accept that a sensible approach is working and saves lives? The Conservatives would rather play politics than deliver for people.
