I wrote about the sacred Teesta River in Sikkim for this month's @LokaInitiative newsletter and how convoluted and opaque the business of dams building is here. For eg, I only learned recently that Morgan Stanley & Goldman Sachs were investors of the Teesta dam. Happy #EarthDay!

Today, I am thinking about 'Sherpa' misappropriation. And I discovered: *Sherpa: experts battling economic crime [asso-sherpa.org/organization] Jason, "your friendly founder of Global Sherpa (“GS”) since September, 2010." [globalsherpa.org/about-global-s…]

When @JoeBiden @WhiteHouse taps former Senator Doug Jones as "sherpa" to guide Supreme Court pick, A REAL LIFE SHERPA wonders what that even means and LIVES WITH THE CONSEQUENCES of such misappropriation. cbsnews.com/news/biden-sup… via @CBSPolitics

That's what my grandparents and their parents practiced until colonialism destroyed it and took over our land. We cannot "reconnect with nature" without engaging with colonialism and the extractive economic logic.

"The challenge is to design and incentivize a transition to a circular economy. As in the original Gaia, this must be built on waste products becoming useful resources to make new products." @GSI_Exeter @gbemi @BrunoLatourAIME More on January 25 fb.me/e/27F495U9s
