Coming to a northeast theater soon…

Some nice gray leaf spot on St. Aug in Baton Rouge and some fairy ring because it’s Friday.

Now that’s a mouthful. #ABWs

Awesome to see @TURFnBUGS paper is now out. Congrats Audrey!

Hey New England. Heads up from Dr. Inguagiato. #Pythium

Seeing a lot of pythium blight in the region with the high night temps and humidity. Particularly where water sits from recent rain. Phosphites ok most years for New England but this stretch of weather is calling for true pythium fungicides.

Chinch bug alert from Dr. McGraw.

I was beginning to wonder when Chinch bugs would show up…..

Cool.

Getting lots calls about ABW adults surging....& some golfers reporting ticks are all over them. Appears to be an outbreak year for Yellow Poplar Weevil (bottom Pic 1, right Pic 2) in western PA. From afar, they can look like older ABW...not so much upclose. cc: @PSUTurfPests

Hey Lancaster…

Lancaster county: ABW larvae appearing at the soil surface. Early yellowing can be confused with a lot of other things. Go out and check your turf. These stages can be seen with the naked eye. Cc: @PSUTurfPests

Pest alert from Dr. McGraw! 🐛

Pest alert: unknown caterpillar ripping through lawns in mid April. Not something I recognize. Somewhat similar in appearance to common armyworm. Timing is odd! Thanks Jim Bryne from @genesisturf for the alert and the samples from the Harrisburg area. Cc: @PSUTurfPests

Western PA update…

All quiet on the Western (PA) front. Only wet weather pests (slugs and crane flies) in fescues on the uptick. I miss chasing weevils.

Hey Indiana. 👀 #LargePatch

1st large patch treatment hitting the ground this week. Soil temperatures will be dropping quickly with this week’s forecast.

🤤

A dreamy morning for #turfgrasspathologists and an indicator for turf managers of your high pressure disease areas. Humidity and raised temperature levels.

Heads up everyone.

Watch out for dollar spot in the next week! Gets to 60% threshold in college park, MD

Trust the numbers…

I‘ve taken a lot of samples, but this is the first ABW larva I’ve seen in the soil this year……,In Harrisburg too ….which is significantly warmer than our sites elsewhere in the Commonwealth. Right on schedule

Things are about to get wild.

Meant to post this yesterday while watching .@TurfEnto’s son play golf but here it is. Active diseases in central PA this weekend include #redthread, #leafspot, and #rust

Patience is a virtue but hard to come by.

Got a call this weekend asking me if I think this week is too early for an ABW- Suprado app …in the Boston area! 1. Full bloom Forsythia in NYC now. 2. Suprado has minimal residual activity 3. Primarily works on larvae This week will be warm, but….we have a long way to go

👀

After a season of hardly being able to find weevils, 2023 is off to bumper crop in western PA. Lots still in the rough and we have a long ways to go……..But absolutely shocked to find these kind of numbers this early Follow @PSUTurfPests for updates

ABWs on the move

Courses in Virginia are already seeing ABW on the move and the pest has now been confirmed in North Carolina. The only way to know for sure if you have them is by scouting 👉bit.ly/3yaYGkl

Curious minds want to know. 🐛
