London’s 2012 Olympic legacy in tatters! 🚨ONE HUNDRED & FIFTY MILLION POUND🚨 remediation bill! Just staggering @getliving @SadiqKhan @lynbrownmp @mtpennycook @Keir_Starmer #BuildingSafetyCrisis
We are seeing an increase in waking watches across the country. @mhclg continues to defer to "local regulators" for enforcement action. This only results in fire services, under @ukhomeoffice responsibility, mandating a WW. Still no joined-up approach. Still no end in sight.
Waking watch: a short story Once upon a time we had a WW. Other than harass girls, they did nothing. A temporary fire alarm (over £100k) was then installed to replace the WW. That alarm now has a fault. Tonight we welcome back the WW. The end 😢 #endourcladdingscandal
Heartening to see Labour MPs waking up to the exploitation millions of leasehold households face – but this goes further than one rogue managing agent. The only way to provide leaseholders with the control and dignity they deserve is to abolish leasehold.
Leaseholders are being ripped off by managing agents who levy huge charges but provide poor service. It’s got to stop. I’m one of 34 Labour MPs who have written today to the country’s largest managing agent, FirstPort, to demand they come to Parliament to explain themselves.
I’ve heard from many local leaseholders who are being exploited by managing agents imposing high fees for poor services - this needs to end I joined 34 Labour MPs in demanding that FirstPort, the UKs largest managing agent, appear before Parliament to answer for their actions

@Uma_Kumaran can you get to the bottom of this for your thousands of leaseholder constituents @EastVillageLDN and beyond? When will @UKLabour enact LAFRA?! @OlympicHomes_AG
This is @mtpennycook using @LKPleasehold and @LEASEonline to drip feed the @UKLabour failure regarding 'quickly reforming leasehold' so he doesn't have to face the leaseholders he lied to
My UK apartment has a £400/month service charge. 🇹🇭 We're looking at Thailand - an apartment block with three swimming pools, a gym, cinema room, two workspaces and a basketball court. 🇬🇧 UK: They paint the walls magnolia every two years and sometimes clean up heroin needles.
Is safety in our homes really at the heart of Govt building safety policy? The Spectrum building in Dagenham waited years for @mhclg funded works to remove cladding 100 residents' & 225 firefighters' lives put at risk We spoke to @fbunational magazine👇 fbu.org.uk/magazine/octob…
Since the Grenfell fire, 4,771 buildings over 11 metres with dangerous cladding have been identified and are in the government's remediation portfolio. @MHCLG estimates mean there could be up to 7,200 buildings still to identify. Read our report: nao.org.uk/reports/danger…
Ministers face mounting pressure to speed up efforts to remove dangerous cladding from buildings after a fresh report warned that 60 per cent of buildings with hazardous cladding materials have yet to be identified @eleanormia reports 🔗 trib.al/3wUcuGw
60% of buildings with dangerous #cladding have still not been identified, 7 years on from #Grenfell tragedy according to new report. #National #Audit office found safety works may not be completed until 2035 @itvlondon @GMB
Labour have promised action on remediation but we have yet to see what this means. Meanwhile, @Lees_Martina reports on the very very long wait and emotional and financial price thetimes.com/article/94451d…
Stripping dangerous cladding from 9,000 to 12,000 buildings over 11m in England could cost between £12.6 billion and £22.4 billion and won't be finished until 2037 - 20 years after Grenfell. A national disgrace. @Lees_Martina thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…
The government could miss its own cladding removal completion date if progress is not made to speed up the process. bbc.in/3YBQS8b
60% of unsafe buildings still haven't even been identified. 🗣️ End Our Cladding Scandal told i that ministers should prioritise collecting detailed data on high-risk materials and enforce stricter oversight on building owners to accelerate remediation efforts👇…
We have too many different fire safety remediation funding schemes, that are too complicated & holding up vital work from starting "Central government intervention could be the piece of the jigsaw that has been missing for years"👇 #EndOurCladdingScandal manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-m…
Shocking to bring this in without an exemption for flats in purpose built blocks. @mhclg & @AngelaRayner are fully aware that flats cannot be sold, even after remediation, due to the #BuildingSafetyCrisis & #LeaseholdScam. This just keeps people prisoners in unfit accommodation.
Leaseholders who can’t sell their home face a new stamp duty hike if they manage to save up for a new place 100 days on and we’ve seen next to nothing on leasehold reform and building safety. Successive governments seemingly incapable of doing right by those harmed by negligence

The government and @mtpennycook urgently need to offer clarity and a time scale for leasehold reform. Yes, it is complicated but leasehold reform has been marinating on policymakers' desk for too long. Time is of the essence!
@UKLabour @mtpennycook @AngelaRayner @Uma_Kumaran The leaseholders of the Olympic Village and beyond are watching. Enact LAFRA now. @OlympicHomes_AG
ME FOR @NewStatesman Voters won’t accept yet more excuses and technocratic legalism on ending leasehold. After all, if government can’t get rid of something so blatantly unfair and rejected by the public at election after election, what is it good for? newstatesman.com/business/econo…
