Attention those estimating child penalties! How you measure outcomes over parental leave matters. A lot! @fjaellegaard @b_petrongolo & I put facts on birth timing, spacing & PL together in a new paper. Child penalties can vary by >50% depending on your approach 👇1/n
Abusive bosses don't drive performance. They undermine it. 471 studies, 149k people, 36 countries: in aggressive workplaces, we do poorer work, collaborate less, and shirk more. Incivility breaks confidence and breeds resentment. The best way to get results is to show respect.

Curious if the trans-critical discourses promoted by J.K.Rowling reflect an erosion of attitudes to LGBTQ+ rights in the West? @malinhlm and I analyze the polarized debate on 🇸🇪's new gender identity bill in @EJPGjournal A backlash may indeed be underway. doi.org/10.1332/251510…

🚨Why do women remain underrepresented in positions of power once elected into parliament? @VETroeger, Philip Manow and I look at this question in the context of German state parliaments. Here is our new working paper: osf.io/4x7ha. 🧵

🇧🇷 Paging all Brazil experts! 🇧🇷 How do elections for municipal councils work? Why do parties have so many candidates!? How do parties convert campaign funds to votes? What is the “nitty gritty” of donor patterns and clientelism in council elections?
People lie to rejected candidates and tell them it was because they are a man, presumably to avoid the awkward reality that another candidate was considered better qualified. I personally witnessed this more than once. People say it to make the rejected candidate "feel better".
I don't get all these "I was told by the search committee" claims folks are bandying about either. I have literally never participated in a search—either as candidate or committee member—where any reason other than "we went with another person" was communicated to candidates
