It was great hosting Salters Discovery Days and welcoming so many wonderful chemistry pupils from all over Scotland to the School Of Chemistry. We hope to see you again soon. Thanks to all our panel and @hessammehr for an inspiring keynote. @UofGChem @Salters_Inst
My daughter asked, “Do you ever have any regrets, Mom?” And while I know she was asking this question on a philosophical level, my mind immediately went to this puffin sweater I saw in Iceland. It’s been 3 years since I saw it in a shop there, & I still regret not buying it.
Some very friendly folks (@SimonaBianco_8 & colleagues) at @UofGChem are hosting a conference in Glasgow for macromolecular & supramolecular chemistry in July. Although short notice, the deadline is tomorrow if anyone is interested in applying last minute! mascgroup.co.uk/ecr-masc-meeti…
Myself, @SimonaBianco_8 (@UofGChem) and our lovely team (also consisting of enthusiastic UoG mathematicians) absolutely smashed the Glasgow 10K Race for Life this morning! We had great fun and raised money for Cancer Research in memory of our loved ones. Well done, Team!
I'm running a cheeky wee 10K in May in aid of Cancer Research UK starting in Glasgow Green. If you'd like to donate, then feel free to hit the link below! fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/nickis-ra…
Our Masters student, @imactuallyorla, did a tremendous job at explaining some really tricky science yesterday to a vast audience in the Chemistry Department. This covered photon antibunching and FCS as part of her Masters' presentation. Very well done, Orla!
Congratulations to @NickiJFairbairn on passing her PhD viva today; our group’s first doctor! Many thanks to Carlos Penedo and @StevenWMagennis for examining and Joy Farnaby for convening. Well done Dr Fairbairn!
Nice snowy climb with @GillianCadden today at Culter Fell! Nice to blow the cobwebs away.
Looks like we're at *that* stage of the thesis write-up.
Many congratulations to Olga Vodianova for winning the @RoySocChem @JMaterChem Materials Advances poster prize at Optical Probes in Como for her work on the single molecule spectroscopy of the light emitting polymer F8BT. Very well done Olga!
Final day of Optical Probes 2023 hosted in beautiful Como & we've had an excellent range of talks. Here's a snap of our good colleague, Joe, from @SkabaraGroup presenting a flash talk on his extensive work on TADF materials #OpticalProbes2023 #FluorescenceFriday #OP2023 @UofGChem
Our Arcadia summer student, Alana, did a tremendous job at presenting experimental work that she had carried out in the @hedleylab over the last six weeks on Thursday to the rest of her cohort. It's been lovely having her in the group and we wish her all the best for the future!
