Nikola Jokic sniffed out the Mavs final possession last night and first told Christian Braun, and then Peyton Watson, where Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic were going. It looked like the Nuggets’ coaching staff read it too.
That’s not what he’s saying. He’s asking the ref to let him know if the linemen are lined up properly. You see linemen, receivers, etc check with the refs practically every play. Settle down, folks.
𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚: Patrick Mahomes caught on a hot mic asking a ref if they can let him know when a defender is close to him. This is INSANE.
Nobody in NBA history has averaged 28/11/11 on 65 TS% across 10 games... until now. Nikola Jokic has a statline of 30/14/12 on 67 TS% through 10 games this season.
What I have come to realize is that every pushback I have 'ever' gotten about how good Jokic is since 2021 had nothing to do with basketball and everything to do with narratives, preference, draft status, style of play and his personality. We have NEVER* seen a player do this.
