Until the creation of the cloture vote during the lead-up to WWI ... being majority leader would have been practically impossible.

Nelson Aldrich was the first Senate majority leader, and even that was de facto a result over his control of the SFC.

John Adams was not the Senate majority leader. He tried ... and failed ... to leverage the vice presidency into influence over the Senate.

Vice President @JDVance as Senate Majority Leader??? @charliekirk11 tells me, โ€œJohn Adams presided over the US Senate as Senate Majority Leader 200 years ago as Vice President of the United States. I think JD Vance should be President of the Senate and become Senate Majorityโ€ฆ

That was a very intense election season. I'm glad it's over.

Any best guesses on where the popular vote lands after California finishes counting next month?

Some of the biggest names blew the election. But you know who got it right? A bunch of Twitter anons. So let's give them some of the recognition they deserve: @TonerousHyus @TheDataGooroo @ChristianHeiens @DataRepublican @RebekkaAdams198 @QuantusInsights @earlyvotedata

Really really REALLY glad I don't have to take this trip for another 18 months or so.

I also think that as we become more ethnically, religiously, ideologically diverse, we really need to lean on the strength of our federal system. Decentralization can accommodate more interests, too!
