I think @elonmusk still couldn't see the "longevity" matrix by that it's very surprising to me.

How old were you when you realized others couldn’t see the matrix?

Genetically, I should be bald. I started to lose my hair and go gray in my late 20s. Now, at 47, I’ve got a full head of hair and ~70% of my gray is gone. Here how I did it.. 🧵

Fascinating work by @prof_horvath et al showing that in axolotls epigenetic clocks tick during development but not after age 4. It fits well with the idea that ageing is the result of developmental processes that run on later in life. newscientist.com/article/244912…

Axolotls do not age like humans. Applying an epigenetic clock to those salamander species suggests that they age up to a certain point, and then they simply stop epigenetically aging. 🕰️ lifespan.io/news/axolotls-… by Josh Conway #Epigeneticclocks #Aging #Longevity @prof_horvath

What are the main breakthroughs in aging research in the 21st century? I can think of three: - Rapamycin extending lifespan in animals - Yamanaka factors - Epigenetic clocks Anything else?

Exciting new research shows retrotransposons, ancient viruses making up ~1/2 our DNA, can create precise biological clocks to measure our rate of aging. This is the tip of the iceberg… 🧵

Impressive study showing that inhibiting interleukin-11, a pro-inflammatory cytokine, extends lifespan in mice by 25%. Both genetic deletion and an anti-IL-11 drug worked, and it's exciting that anti-IL-11 therapies are already in human clinical trials. nature.com/articles/s4158…

Very glad to see this massive effort between our lab and the Allison /Tim Nagy labs finally out. The amount animals eat on calorie restriction is not the driver of longevity gains. The key is eating less than energy requirements. No imbalance. No longevity gain.

Benefits of calorie restriction in mice are mediated via energy imbalance, not absolute energy or protein intake Daniel Smith, @JohnSpeakman4, Tim Nagy link.springer.com/article/10.100…
