Cerebral Palsy 'startle reflex' vs. fireworks noise is not fun. 😢 Awful hip spasms now. Worse than usual, because of involuntary jumps. I hate this time of year! #fireworks

Organisations and charities are urging the government to support disabled people, avoid benefit cuts and discontinue punitive return-to-work approaches, including conditionality and sanctioning #NoMoreBenefitDeaths bigissue.com/opinion/dwp-be…

Being “lazy” isn’t a real thing. It’s showing a lack of needs met. You’re either exhausted, disabled, depressed, traumatized, overworked, or all of the above. Calling someone “lazy” is just an attempt to shame people into capitalist productivity.

Helen Sims Reposted

Stop the ludicrous obsession with people on benefits and demonizing them. They are f*ck all to do with the problems in/of the UK. #Peston

"PIP is meant for additional support, not bills" Yes, it's MEANT to be for that, but the way disability benefits work and aren't enough to survive, many people have to use their PIP as supplementary income to cover essentials, rather than for its intended purpose.

In a poll of almost a 1,000 people 75% say it is wrong for the DWP to take money directly out of bank accounts.

A hospital should be a place of recuperation and rest, not fear, pressure, and judgment. 'Work coaches' do NOT belong in hospitals! #DWP #MentalHealth #PMQs #Disability

Non disabled people don’t realize that disabled people don’t just get all of their needs met. We don’t just get medication or mobility aids or diagnoses at the drop of a hat. We have to fight constantly to get our needs met because the system will do anything it can to not help.

Helen Sims Reposted

Someone claiming PIP or who is unable to work might be able to walk, go to gym, even run marathons... Because disabilities aren't just physical and/or about mobility issues, and you can't know based on one thing whether someone is disabled or not.

A quick heads-up to DWP wonks that a huge tranche of almost 30 research reports has been published today (presumably held back under the previous government?) covering Universal Credit, childcare, disability & pensions - lots of interesting stuff in there gov.uk/search/researc…

An “eye-opening” report has called for action to address the “inconsistent, unpredictable and sometimes inaccessible services” that disabled bus passengers have to put up with. buff.ly/4dQoqWn

While the focus is on the Winter Fuel Discount, campaigners should also know that this cut comes shortly after the criteria for the Warm Home Discount was changed, resulting in 800,000 households cut from the £150 payment. #TUC2024

#WinterFuelPayment Disabled people are impacted by cuts to winter fuel payment. In receipt of PIP or attendance allowance and not pension credit won’t receive it Disabled people are high energy users, use peg feeding, ventilators, charge equipment, use washing machines

I wish more people talked about how painful it is to grieve someone who is still alive.
