Our research was published today in science! We developed single-molecule tension sensors based on DNA overstretching and measured the rate of cellular force increase using these sensors.

Congratulations to the two GRS signaling by adhesion receptor best talk winners @MilanRCollins and @MyunghyunJ as well as GRS participants @margariddantas and @VignesHelene for giving fantastic talks at the GRC, too! Super impressive work by all of you! 🤩
Research Highlight by @rita_strack : TJ Ha @taekjip, Myung Hyun Jo, and colleagues develop a single-molecule method for probing loading rates in mechanical force measurements. Original paper: science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… Highlight: nature.com/articles/s4159…
Cells connect with their environment through surface receptors and use physical tension to regulate cellular processes. A new study develops an overstretching tension sensor to allow more accurate force measurement in physiological conditions. @taekjip ow.ly/waEQ50R1Nvb

TJ’s cutting-edge research “is based on the idea that DNA mutations can act directly through DNA physics, such as bendability and condensability.” Here, he shares what he calls ‘molecular fireworks’ 🎆. Learn more: pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac… 2/4

The Cys-conjugated Cy dyes are always more prone to photobleaching than those labeled through amide bonds. Why? Working with Chunlai Chen's lab, we provide a simple solution to this issue. See our new paper on @J_A_C_S pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ja…
And it’s online, I’m very proud to share that our paper on neutrophil transendothelial migration hotspots can be found online @EMBOreports! embopress.org/doi/full/10.15… Here is a short summary detailing our major findings: 1/9

Congratulations to Tim for winning the Lasker award!!!
Congratulations Richard O. Hynes, Erkki Ruoslahti, and Timothy A. Springer, 2022 #LaskerAward winners! — “for discoveries concerning the #integrins—key mediators of cell-matrix and cell-cell adhesion in physiology and disease”. @MIT @sbpdiscovery @harvardmed #Lasker2022
Here we show that neutrophils sense the level of fluid drag transduced through individual β2-integrin bonds, providing an intrinsic means to modulate inflammatory response in the microcirculation. mdpi.com/2073-4409/11/1…
