Finally, and I say this each month, even when inflation returns to target, affordability concerns will remain a top #cdnpoli issue. Inflation is about changes. Price levels ratcheted. Now ~7.1% higher than would have been w/ 2% inflation this whole time. #cdnecon
Appears that there will soon be an extra reason to encourage my aunties to get a shingles vaccine. medrxiv.org/content/10.110…
Biggest thing to ever come out of my little group. Pls help spread this finding! We found clean, CAUSAL evidence that the shingles vaccine prevents a good chunk of dementia cases. So, could a virus cause Alzheimer’s->YES! Hear me out & see preprint: bit.ly/3MVqXU9 🧵1/
When I discuss ways to improve lab safety in academia, I present parts of this review by @TrantTeam and @Shufflersunite The paper discusses the current state of academic lab safety, supported by data (yay!), and concludes with stressing the need for 1/8 nature.com/articles/s4155…

One would hope 2022 would be a good year to end chemists' obsession with perfluorinated organic compounds. #ForeverChemicals

I'm not on Twitter as much these days. One reason: iNaturalist exists. It's social media that helps science & which leaves me feeling good nearly every time I visit. Not just me, either. An NYTimes writer recently asked if it's "The nicest place online?" inaturalist.org/blog/73324-ina…
As someone who needed government student loans to earn a BSc (a stepping stone to a later PhD), this is good. Canada earns a better return on investment through a better economy & well paid workers when people gain education & skills; it will ultimately pay for itself.
We’re permanently eliminating interest on the federal portion of Canada Student Loans and Canada Apprentice Loans.
Perhaps it's time to reintroduce "disallowance": theglobeandmail.com/opinion/articl…
I spoke with Premier @FordNation today. I emphasized the importance of standing up for Canadians’ rights and freedoms, including workers’ rights – and I reiterated that the preemptive use of the notwithstanding clause is wrong and inappropriate.
The student body of the University of British Columbia form the letters ‘UBC’ using their bodies as part of their annual spirit pilgrimage or “Great Trek.”
I needed a good laugh today. 🤣 #chemistry
Well @NelsonClassroom I am not so impressed with your “university prep” biology 12. This is just some of chapter 1.
Better value too! Probably gained a few more years of Ryan Reynolds thanks to the physician removing a polyp: youtube.com/watch?v=5sXkIU…
Ryan Reynolds lost a bet and had to film his own colonoscopy. And it was still better than Green Lantern!
Good. The reprise of responsible public health policy is music to my ears.

Not sure if Twitter is the right venue for birds (perhaps Flickr?), but I just had a Northern Flicker visit the post outside my window and it brightened my day just a little. 🐦 #birdwatching #Canada
It felt good to earn my cookie this week... apart from needle-related heebie-jeebies. It's been a while. Appreciate that @CanadasLifeline makes the process smooth.
God rest her soul.
The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.
