While we’re talking about book fairs, let me say this to all the principals, superintendents, & school admins: Your library should be fully funded BY DISTRICT FUNDS, NOT BY FUNDRAISERS LIKE BOOK FAIRS. No excuses. Properly funded school libraries impact student learning

If I ever need to look for a new job I’m not even going to bother with a cover letter, I’m just going to attach my circulation growth graph to demonstrate my skills 😂🤭 I mean, look at this growth since I started in 2017!

One of my most despised librarian “holidays” is coming up. Wish we’d stop “celebrating banned books week” I have serious concerns as to whether that messaging is successful in educating the gen public abt the scope of the threat I’d rather it be like “banning books is bad” week

Say her name. Her name is AJ Owens. A mother of 4 shot and killed by a white woman. A mom doing what a normal mom would do if you took her children's IPad. She went to confront her neighbor, who has not been arrested for murder.

Pinch me! I loved THE PASSAGE so much & now I get to be "in conversation" with its author, Justin Cronin (@jccronin). His new book is called THE FERRYMAN. If you live in the Portland area, you won't want to miss this event. If you live anyplace, you won't want to miss this book.

Well worth it! 📚

OMG! Librarians stood in line for 90 minutes to get a signed book from me.

I'm delighted to announce @Meg_Medina will serve as the next National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature. We look forward to the ways she will invite young people, especially Spanish and bilingual speakers, to share their favorite books & stories. newsroom.loc.gov/news/meg-medin…

Wow. 🥲

I thought I’d seen it all with school librarians censoring their own collections. But here’s a new one: a librarian in a group I’m in says she’s glueing together two pages so kids don’t read the bad part but still have access to the good message. 🤦‍♀️

Even before book banning took hold like it recently has, I think a lot of problems were caused due to many people not knowing or understanding just what school librarians DO — which, of course, is so much more than check out books and organize shelves. 1/2

We need the inverse of “Emily in Paris.” We need a show about a hot French dude who is relocated to San Francisco, refuses to work more than 35 hours/week, and is disgusted by our lack of social safety nets.

It's not just that gay bars are supposed to be a safe space.

There are "nearly 2,000 books on a list that the president of the Florida chapter of No Left Turn in Education claims to have that are inappropriate and he will be challenging in the district." ow.ly/lSGH50LzZSk

And if you know exactly what that means, you’re definitely a teacher.

shoutout to every teacher who still calls frontline "AESOP".

Last night was my first experience in a room with .@Moms4Liberty reading passages from books. I honestly wanted to say “Are you proud of yourself??!” It was so obvious she came with passages printed from the web and had no clue the context of story she referenced. Worse, she lied

Cutest thing ever.

shoutout to every teacher who still calls frontline "AESOP".

I woke up this morning to a news alert that our @GirlsWhoCode middle-grade book series was banned by some school districts as part of the Mom for Liberty effort to ban books. To be honest, I am so angry I cannot breathe. newsweek.com/handmaids-tale…
