I often wonder why Nintendo completely abandoned the motion controller after the Wii. Technically Wii U had it and Switch has/had some motion stuff, but it basically was one-and-done. Why? It was fun. Release an updated controller and Switch Sports ala Wii Sports. It would sell.

Nintendo Wii was released 18 years ago today!

This thread is important. It’s telling us something about the state of programming.

I just watched a dev stream where he was copying and pasting code by selecting then right clicking and going to copy. I have no words.

You don't hear a lot of buzz about rebooting 'Howdy Doody' for the modern audience.

The reaction to electronica before MDMA.

Kraftwerk plays before a confused audience for the first time (1970). This is one of the earliest existing concert videos documenting the birth of electronic music.

I don't really get this take. Yes, fantasy has shifted more female, but fiction has been female coded for as long as I can remember. A lot of the Grim Dark stuff, for example, was never front and center at book stores. I'm pretty sure men mostly read non-fiction--history, war…

Why aren’t men reading more? What is the industry putting out there for them TO read?

I don't think I would last long at the North or South poles when the sun is just circling in the sky like that. I'm still paralyzed by the time change.

This is what Antarctica looks like at midnight during a time when it experiences 24 hour sun

This is insane

This thread is wild. Linux devs are just soft Luddites. Visual Studio is so much better than every other IDE. It’s on another planet. Yet all these dudes are like nah, I don’t need a lighter to start this fire, I’ll just rub sticks together.

last spring, I said that without VS2022 there was no good way to do C/C++ in Linux. Someone mentioned VSCode as a substitute, but after using it for a hour, it feels really amateurish, missing many features. Maybe I just suck at using it, but how is it missing such basic features

This is one of the first cartoons I remember watching as a kid. That opening scared the shit out of me.

This "why do people hate .NET" content cycle has run it's course. There isn't some technical or practical explanation. Everybody knows it's just vibes.
