Israel's explanation of the hostility of its neighbours is strikingly analogous to the way MRAs explain their romantic failure with women. I mean the problem could be that all these different actors are arabs, or the shared problem could be that they all have to deal with Israel.

Smith @ComicDaveSmith says Block is suspending morality because Israel is "a government." Says Block is citing "government" propagandists. Wrong. Block is suspending morality because the perpetrators are Jews. Settlers are violent "individuals", and Block endorses them, too.

It's actually quite impressive that in spite of a myriad of foreign influences essentially pitting different groups against each other, rapid centralization, and grotesque nationalism, different groups in Lebanon manage to coexist and intermingle.

Even with all the ethnic, religious, and political differences in Lebanon, and despite external influences and internal political issues, Lebanon is still if not a perfect at least a good example of coexistence.

Classic case of “when the ambitious man, whose slogan was "Either Caesar or nothing", does not become Caesar, he is in despair over it. But this signifies something else, namely, that precisely because he did not become Caesar he now cannot bear to be himself."

The sheer amount of gender polarization in response to this (men unanimously perceiving it as a severe insult, women unable to comprehend why) is amazing.

Massimino on Lavoie, "Lavoie actually agreed with Karl Marx that markets involved an “anarchy of production” but argued it was precisely this anarchy (the “ongoing rivalrous struggle” amongst producers) upon which the production crucially depends! 1/x

The battle of the midwits commences…

I haven’t “supposedly” ducked out of anything. You just lie to your audience and tell them that. Like when you titled and promoted a debate between us, without ever hearing from me. I literally found out about it on Twitter. I agreed to debate you, YOU suggested zero hedge host…

It's interesting that if some community peacefully seceded from the country and managed its own affairs, it would quickly be physically attacked by the government for not paying taxes, if not bombed as treasonous. Power, not coexistence, is the primary aim of the state.

Relative to Europe, the United States engages in more prison spending rather than police spending. HT: @MiguelChehadeh

At some point, historians will drily note how not a single shred of evidence has been presented that Hamas, or anybody else, systematically "hides" behind human shields. In the meanwhile, we have to stare in amazement at the cynical shamelessness of the political class.

StateSpox places blame for Palestinian deaths on Hamas .@NiallStanage: Respectfully Matt, they’re dead because the armed forces of Israel killed them Miller: Going after Hamas hiding behind civilians Reporter: That makes it sound like it’s okay for 40,000 people to be killed
