Calibre sown back on 30 by 30 ripped vetch hay at Petro Station near Mildura… 85mm of GSR! 80% of N applied VRA IBS! Success of controlling the controllables

Amazed at this thigh high pasture stand. We’ve sown multispecies summer and winter for the past two years. This autumn all we sowed was ryegrass. It got 80L UAN ahead of rain in early August 🙈 Volunteer radish, peas, chicory, plantain and vetch providing a power of feed now 🐮

How long does amelioration last? Depends on the constraints and the treatment applied! Tractor breakdown led to very late sowing at the Coomy MLA demo site this year 🙈 but, topsoil inversion (Plozza) in 2022 to treat water repellence is still proving the goods!

I’m glad the frosty fog lifted at Coomandook this morn to plant our wheat sowing rate x nutrition trials, quantifying 3rd yr responses to soil Inversion versus Chisel Plough on repellent sand thanks to @GRDCSouth @CSIRO Sandy Soils II🤞🏻🌧️ @SA_PIRSA @GWGFarming @MacKillopGroup

A pleasure to host 2 workshops last week with @flicturner empowering producers to make informed fertiliser and amelioration decisions in grazing systems. Thanks to our hosts at Frances & Wattle Range & partners @ag_eyre @MacKillopGroup @SADroughtHub #FutureDroughtFund @GRDCSouth

Clay delving trial today at Wattle Range. Didn’t get the first pass on video but really working! 💪 Great to see the improvements to soil structure and carrying capacity.

Can we make #sandysoil amelioration pay in a grazing system? Compacted, acidic sand over clay 20-40cm. Using the Imants to rip up some clay and spade in the lime. Doing a great job in ideal moisture. @MacKillopGroup and AIREP #trials2023 underway! Pasture sowing next 🪱🌱☘️

Had the pleasure of hosting my 1st workshop @The40AcreFarm today. An intro to soil health and how to interpret soil test results. A great bunch of chicks from the Limestone Coast, keen to contribute in their farming businesses in an informed way. Thanks WoTL and @LClandscapeSA

At Coomandook collecting final dry matter and quality samples for the #MLAgrazingsands trial. Pdk been grazed twice. Recovery unreal this season. Observations: tillage + aged pig manure/bedding >> tillage > no tillage. Shall share results once in 👌🏻

I thought a few yrs back that the EDDHA Fe used in vit/hort would work on beans in our calcareous clays. Solid response this yr @ Lake Hawdon, used as a seed coat & banded at sowing + 2x EDTA Fe foliar. It’s expensive, but the ⬆️ yld might make it pay 🤷🏼‍♀️ @MacKillopGroup @SoilCRC

Great turnout today at Coomy for the Roadshow. Thanks so much to @Howelly_Agro @MacKillopGroup @GWGFarming @AgEngUniSA for all your help and contributions. I especially liked the ‘blue roots’! Puffed now. Looking forward to Kooloonong this Friday 🎯
