I'm not leaving in a huff just yet because I've invested a lot of time here and built a great network. But I'll also be building stuff elsewhere. Mastodon is too confusing, so will probably be using LinkedIn more. This is me if you want to connect: linkedin.com/in/lizziecassm…

📉 Twitter is now 𝕏. And it's so extremely typical that now even the name is inaccessible. 🤷🏿‍♂️ What? 😞 That fancy X is a mathematical symbol. Not a normal letter X. Why is that an issue? Ironically that doesn't fit in a tweet, so answer follows 👇🏿

"Please visit our website to track your order, click Contact Us, Tracking Your Order." Not a single actual link. Are you kidding me? #BadUX

I'm thinking of doing a foundation BSL course online; can anyone recommend anything? I'm not looking to become fluent, but I find that learning a language also teaches you deeper things about the communities who use that language. Thanks #BSL #SignLanguage

Not impressed by first raft of security qus on gov.uk All except one of these qus imply or indicate some kind of privilege (higher education, class, wealth). This really isn't good enough for a universal form on a universally used website.

I'm a multi-decade accessibility veteran. I learned a new thing today. How? Watching someone with a disability use a thing we built. The moment you think "I really get this!" – that's the moment you need to amplify your efforts to include people with disabilities in your work.

Solid content.

People aren’t “confined” to wheelchairs - it’s more accurate to say they’re liberated by them. It’s pretty patronising to say people “suffer” from their disabilities. And “victim” is misleading (it can sound like someone has died). Use clear, standard language instead. #A11y

Inclusive language is not a fun little add-on. If you change your words without changing your systems, policies, budgets, roles etc, you're just polishing the turd of injustice. Change your words as - and because - you're changing the entire system.

In 2019, Caster Semenya was told she could no longer participate in sport unless she took hormone suppressants. As a doctor, I find this unacceptable. Medicine is prescribed for the benefit of the patient's health - not because a sports committee dictates it. Genetic…

How do we make hiring more #neurodivergent friendly? I'm looking for practical changes to job applications & interviews. Some forms of ND include: autism, Tourette's, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dysgraphia, CPTSD, ADHD. What has worked for you, as an applicant or employer? LMK! ⬇️

The regret rate of gender-affirming surgery is 0.3%. The regret rate for knee replacement surgery is 6-30%. "Transition regret" is a false narrative being pushed by the media to prevent people from getting access to life-saving, gender-affirming healthcare. However...…

After nearly 4 hours and over 1000 failed calls later to try and get disabled access tickets for #TSTheErasTour, I’ve had no luck. Well and truly gutted. Accessible tickets aren’t accessible if disabled people can’t buy them in the first place. @LFC @LFCHelp
