1/🧵 Tweetorial on our new paper, “Dump the Dimorphism: Comprehensive synthesis of brain studies finds few male-female differences beyond size.” (sciencedirect.com/science/articl…). It's big (43K words, 616 refs) so I'll cut to the chase.

I am so tired of this narrative about men and their loneliness…so I went and looked at the original data. THERE IS NOT A SIGNIFICANT DIFF BTW MEN AND WOMEN. Men are NOT more lonely. (Here’s a nice graph)

When the model is applied to two outside datasets, the accuracy falls even further to 82%. So it seems reasonable to assume the real world accuracy of this method is about 82% *not* 100%.

Please see my reply to DeCasien: bsd.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11… Structural brain #sexdifferences are small & not well-replicated, even across very large studies. Except for the fact that male bodies have larger brains than female bodies, the regional differences are modest & scattered.
