I have watched this 5x. It offers humanizing insight into how and why people made the decisions they did. It’s hard for me to other or belittle these working class New Yorkers. What a failure this two party system has become.

Why did so many working class New Yorkers vote for Donald Trump last week — and even more not vote at all? I went to Hillside Ave in Queens and Fordham Rd in the Bronx to find out.

This week, the NLRB reviewed ALU’s 2022 case against Amazon’s anti-union captive audience meetings—and ruled them unlawful! Amazon spent millions on union-busting tactics but we stood strong and proved that our solidarity is more powerful than their propaganda and lies ✊💪

Today, the Board ruled that, going forward, an employer will violate the National Labor Relations Act by requiring employees to attend captive-audience meetings in which the employer expresses its views on unionization under threat of discipline/discharge. nlrb.gov/news-outreach/…

Strongly agree with the sentiment of this piece by @lfeatherz in @jacobin today: jacobin.com/2024/11/electi… The right response to Trump's victory is not to write off America or huge swaths of it as hopeless, but rather to work harder to convince ordinary people that the left is for…

The election takes are still flowing as freely as the Dom Pérignon at one of Kamala Harris’s Silicon Valley fundraisers. Many liberals agree on one thing: the American people suck, especially the working class. jacobin.com/2024/11/electi…

Preemptively quitting is a chess move…

Senate D's have a chance to lock in a Dem majority at the NLRB deep into 2026 by re-confirming Lauren McFerran before Jan 3. The fear is that will goad Trump into firing McFerran et al to get their GOP board, prompting a much more perilous legal fight. huffpost.com/entry/senate-d…

Polls told us to expect vote-switching among Latinos. And indeed it seems key. But some of the persuasion effect comes out in turnout too. In most places, the drop in Dem votes was larger than the Trump hike, signs of both crossover & demoralized Ds. Voter files will help here.

Can someone leak to me any white paper from the union-busting consulting firms and how they are responding to Trump’s victory? Thanks

A wave of anger is cresting at post offices across the country as letter carriers compare the meager 1.3% in annual raises in their tentative agreement to the big wins of Boeing Machinists, East Coast dockworkers, and UPS workers. @al_bradbury reports: labornotes.org/2024/11/letter…

“sending workers home” = mass deportation

The idea that Trump's program -- cumulatively bashing the Fed, raising tariffs, sending workers home, bloating budget deficits -- the idea that it is a highly inflationary program generates about as much consensus among people who follow economics as any proposition I can…

ICE has 20,000 agents. The only way they'll deport millions of people is with the help of software. If you work for a company that's selling their tools to help ICE do this work, you should leak to reporters what's going on.

New: Hours after Trump won, ICE asked companies to submit plans for how they’d expand ICE’s system of GPS trackers + databases surveilling “noncitizens” awaiting trial or deportation. Gov contractors said ICE’s timing was probably not a coincidence: wired.com/story/ice-surv…
