The recognition of discrimination to families as a breach of code of conduct was monumental for renters with families. Current figures from @Shelter show nearly 139,000 children are living in temporary accommodation without homes this Christmas: more needs to be done. #housing

Great to read @LexiLevens' story in @PrimaMag Her family were evicted at Christmas & found agents unwilling to let to families. She raised a dispute & we found that such a ban was discriminatory. @Shelter supported the family & recommends that renters use TPO-registered agents

All in favour, raise your hand 🙋🏼‍♀️

Maybe, instead of National Service for 18 year olds they should introduce national service for MPs. They all have to do several weeks volunteering in a school, GP, hospital, care home, social care and police within their first 12 months in office.

Seems the Renters’ Reform will not pass before election. 2019 manifesto promise to end no fault evictions will be broken. Months of work by stakeholders tossed aside. Delays caused by wrangling with backbenchers while evictions surged. More than 4m households left in precarity.

“No blanket bans against tenants with children.“ What a masterpiece by @tenleyjournals Thank you so much 🫶🏼 #smkawards2024 #rentersrights #enddiscrimination #housingcrisis #equalitymatters

Absolutely spot on.

Having a safe, stable and affordable roof above our head is a fundamental that we all need in order to live a productive and healthy life. Just like we need food, air and water. Yet Britain now has the highest homelessness figures in the developed world … You can’t claim to…

“Talking about something you are truly passionate about will drive something you can make a change with.” My take away from meeting amazing campaigners at @smkcampaigners: even the smallest voices can make the biggest impact: aim high. #lovecampaigning #equalitymatters #speakup

Banning “No Kids” policies has STILL not been written into law. Children & families are directly affected by this huge inequality that has not been addressed & delivered by the UK Government. Without @Shelter this campaign wouldn’t have succeeded but the campaign still continues

🥳Congratulations @LexiLevens! Read more about Lexi's campaign to challenge discrimination in the private rental sector 👉🏻 express.co.uk/news/uk/174890… And demand a #RentersReformBill that actually stands up for renters shltr.org.uk/ifl5t

So grateful for all the support for this achievement 💜💙🧡💛

So frickin proud to know / have worked with you @LexiLevens 🎉⚖️

It’s an honour to win Best Consumer Campaign at the @smkcampaigners National #smkawards2024 for Family Discrimination in Renting ⭐️ Fighting for families to be treated with fairness and equality wouldn’t have been possible without @sheltercharity & @ArnallRose Thank you 🙏🏼

The lack of rental security is shocking in The UK when there are other developed countries that can provide secure rentals long term.

yesterday, as i was moving the final things out of my home following my eviction, a guy turned up who turned out to be the new tenant. turns out the landlord has bumped the rent by *£700*. a 30% increase. the greed and cruelty of landlords in this country is outrageous.

Such an honour to have this cause recognised and to keep getting the message out there 🙏🏼 #socialchange #housingcrisis #speakup Read more here 👇🏼 #LoveCampaigning smk.org.uk/awards_nominat…

Yet again, no improvement: the most vulnerable remain at risk of being pushed out of homes, children and families included. #HousingCrisis

In years to come, just as house price inflation has stalled the housing market and locked young people out of homeownership, historically high rents are going to cause big trouble. Arguably, they already are: homelessness for families and spiralling temporary accommodation bills

Health inequalities/housing inequalities: how to address the root causes in this solely reactive & non preventative society? We need money in public health & funding where the most vulnerable lie. We need social housing. What will it take to make change?#inequality #NHS #housing

🧵Today we published our analysis, commissioned by @jrf_uk, which reveals that people living in poverty find it harder to live healthy lives, harder to access #NHS services, live with greater illness and die earlier than the rest of the population. kingsfund.org.uk/insight-and-an…

Want to share one thing today? Make it this ⬇️🙏🏻

Self-interested landlord MPs don’t want you to watch this video... (they’d rather that renting stays broken). Let’s share it. #RentersReformBill
