The Renters' Rights Bill is heading to report stage in parliament. 11 million private renters have waited long enough. We are being failed by our renting system. Join @Shelter's campaign and demand real change for renters now. campaigns.shelter.org.uk/join-our-campa…
Before the general election, Keir Starmer committed to closing Wethersfield. Yet, the govt has not only kept the site open in the face of overwhelming evidence of the harm is causes, but also plans to increase its capacity. Wethersfield is both cruel & costly. It must be shut.

Alicia made it clear to the Housing Committee yesterday: you can't end #homelessness without building far more social rent homes. With the Affordable Homes Programme coming to an end, the Spring spending review is the opportunity for government to fix the #HousingEmergency.
💬 "Until we start building and replacing the stock that needs to be there, there's always going to be this crisis." Alicia Walker from @Shelter explains how the housing emergency has led to a rise in rough sleeping. Watch the full session 👉 parliamentlive.tv/event/index/72…

Take care of yourself and remember that taking care of something else is part of taking care of yourself, because you are interwoven with the ten trillion things in this single garment of destiny that has been stained and torn, but is still being woven and mended and washed.

Despite soaring rents, housing benefit for private renters will remain frozen next year. The government must unfreeze local housing allowance so that renters can afford to keep their homes, and families who are homeless can escape temporary accommodation. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
If - and it’s an IF - there is a ‘mass exodus’ of landlords following the budget, homes will not disappear. They will be sold and bought by other people - other landlords or owner occupiers. Or, in some cases, councils who have Right to Buy back funds as some in London do.
Landlord ‘mass exodus’ possible following Budget despite low mortgage rates 🔴 @gracegausden93 reports trib.al/YQuswDs

A rent hike is as good as an eviction. Shelter Policy Manager, Tarun, spoke to the #RentersRightsBill committee today, using evidence from our research and your experiences to show @mtpennycook why this Bill must protect renters who are facing unmanageable rent hikes.

Great op-ed from RRC member @jrf_uk on the #rentersrightsbill coming to parliament today. The bill will mean more security for the 1 in 5 of us who rent. But it does little to protect renters from the key issue of soaring rents. We need a cap on in-tenancy rent hikes.
🏘️ Being unable to save to buy your own home, start a family and afford to live where you work undermines our country’s economic security and the government’s ambitions for growth. Read @r_earwaker in @thetimes about the Bill: thetimes.com/life-style/pro….
The #RentersRightsBill is back in parliament today. Why it ⭐ could ⭐ be a watershed moment for renters: shltr.org.uk/Kfc2J
Nothing in the #RentersRightsBill as it currently stands prevents landlords demanding huge sums of rent up front. We need these unreasonable demands (+ those for high-earning guarantors / income of 2.5 x rent) that drive homelessness to be clearly banned -bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
We @RentersReformCo have worked really hard to get agreement from 21 members on what we think needs to change about renting. Some excellent policy asks in here that would make a huge difference to a lot of hard-up renters.
🚨New RRC Report🚨 Our Roadmap for Reform sets our vision for renting in England with safe, secure and affordable homes for all. The government’s Renters' Rights Bill is a good start but check out our recommendations on where it needs amending👇 rentersreformcoalition.co.uk/sites/default/…
