Popped to Longbridge at lunchtime. 26 Waxwings counted, crazy to think 2017 was the last time we saw them ~ how time flies. Recognised their chattering straight away in the tall trees. Just lovely.

Small Elephant Hawkmoth from Sunday morning - my 1st hawkmoth for this year. Just love them.
A rather happy Bee Orchid at Hillfield LNR 🐝 9 in total spotted (3 opened)
Poppy Fields ~ Worcestershire. Last saw these in 2019, so it was a real treat to be able to go again. So pretty.
Pearl Bordered Fritillary Butterfly ~ Wyre Forest. Spotted just one on Saturday after a stop off at Blackgraves Copse post Poppy field visit. Need to go back soon.

Todays Finch visitors ~ not seen the Siskins until today this year. Clearly getting food elsewhere. (Lesser Redpoll, Siskin & Goldfinch)
In 2018 I was kindly directed to this beautiful Little Owl (below pic) ~ 1st one I’d ever seen. Sunday we made a return trip (after I eventually remembered the location) It was hunkered down, as a bit dull and chilly but we still got a sighting. So nice to catch up again 😊
Kingfisher today ~ we got treated to 10+ minutes of animated fishing too. ~ @WolseleyCentre 🐟 River Trent.
I wish I could share more of these, but sadly I’ve still only spotted this one Redpoll. No Siskins at all. Quite the difference to previous winters.
