Join SAFE, SFA & others Sat 7 Sept @ 9 AM for a press conference in DTLA to urge the Gov to sign key road safety legislation – SB 961 & 1509! Together, we can save lives. 💪‍🚴🚦 308 S Spring St. For details bit.ly/SAFESpeedsSave… #SB961 #SB1509 #SpeedKills

My least favorite thing about driving is traffic 😒 Traffic is a major concern for Angelenos, and it can be eliminated through proven strategies. • Reducing the number of cars on the street during peak travel times - AND MORE! Read now on our site! livablecommunitiesinitiative.com/mobility/#traf

A car-free street with small shops, trees, street furniture, coffee carts, and al fresco dining invites people to stroll, linger, and shop. We close streets temporarily across Los Angeles for events, Farmer's Markets, and more! livablecommunitiesinitiative.com/mobility/#pede

Cars take up too much space physically to work as a form of mass transportation in a city; there will always be traffic. The key to creating mobility for people is making safe and reliable transportation. livablecommunitiesinitiative.com/mobility/#how-…

We live in a car-centric world because we have built a car-centric world. So, how do we build our way out? 🤔 Bike Towns are car-free communities created to encourage people to utilize public land by traveling in more environmental ways.

LCI buildings are designed to be Courtyard Buildings, allowing shared green space and a quiet interior. Bedrooms can face the courtyard for privacy. This also means having units with windows on both sides, giving apartments ample air and light.

Cities all over the world have established beautiful architecture by instilling a consistent design, height, and material usage. Many neighborhoods in LA have a historic vernacular with stunning examples from world-famous architects like Paul R. Williams laconservancy.org/learn/architec…

There is a noticeable inconsistency in the proper protection of bike lanes in the streets of LA. While some streets have barriers to protect bike lanes from cars sharing the road, many are poorly protected from traffic. We need to raise awareness to help keep our LA bikers safe!

Increasing the supply of lower cost for-sale housing has to be at the center of any solution to CA's housing shortage. That's why we're working on bills like SB 1470 and SB 1462 to tackle legal and financial obstacles to new for-sale multifamily housing. cayimby.org/legislation/sb…

California sees 1,150 births daily, yet only added 3,000 condos for sale last year. With such limited for-sale housing, we're pushing people towards renting or sprawl. How can we fight climate change without addressing this?

This new Mosque in Dhaka is captivating. It's amazing what's been achieved with a little bit of flourish (pink concrete here), and a novel window program. While not a big structure, it makes a big statement!

A partial victory on Tuesday in Burbank’s City Council meeting: Council voted to sign the cooperation agreement with Metro, which may lead to dedicated bus lanes. A subcommittee was formed to negotiate with Metro, so stay tuned for how we can get this over the finish line!

In 2023 the average rent for a Double Duplex in Los Angeles was $5,055 per unit, but more importantly $1,322 per bedroom. Contrast that to $1,654 for a Studio in LA. You get a brand new unit, new bathroom, and save around $300 a month on rent. Many people will take that deal.

Exciting thread ahead! We're confident that the future holds even more beautiful and livable buildings. With innovative design and thoughtful planning, our cities will be transformed for the better. Stay tuned for how we can make this vision a reality!

The key to this is that we CAN replace the demolished 3 bed homes with similar family-sized units. Achieving this goal however requires planning and building code reform. Single stair reform, adjustments to building design standards, density adjustments, etc. But it's possible!!
