A sprinting start to materials synthesis 🏎️🏁 So much for leaving materials to bake over the weekend. We captured the first moments of a solid-state reaction using in situ X-rays and they go FAST! Mere minutes to Li4Ti5O12 anode🔋 @advancedphoton pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ja…

Self care tip💅from UiO66? Take it slow to fully relax. Using insitu Xrays🔦🩻 we see UiO66 shrinks when heated🔥 but only re-expands when cooled slowly🐢🧊. Cool too fast🏎️ & it gets trapped thanks to some twisted node dynamics! @SimonVornholt @J_A_C_S doi.org/10.1021/jacs.4…

🚨 We are hiring! We're looking for a new #chempostdoc to join our team at @StonyBrookChem, focusing on exploring the structure-function relationships in MOFs using insitu Xrays. Apply here: stonybrooku.taleo.net/careersection/…

Behold, it's alive!🩺This dynamic 2D COF pulses with vitality, shifting from closed🔒 to half-open🔗to open🔓phases in mere seconds⏱️, all observed in real-time with lightning-fast in-situ X-rays🔦🩻 @AdvancedPhoton Check out now in @NatureChemistry doi.org/10.1038/s41557…

What do synchrotron Xrays🔦🩻 and a webcam🎥 have in common? We use both to study nanoparticle synthesis🍳!!! While Xrays see the atomic details, the webcam captures the bigger picture🖼️ AND we don't need to wait for beamtime📅💅 @BrySanMo @StonyBrookChem pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ja…

📢 Reminder: Don't overlook those small "extra" diffraction peaks! 👀 These were key to resolving CO2 binding in our latest collaboration on MOFs for Direct Air Capture 🌱🌍 @stonybrookchem with @farhomies and @ProfDravid pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ja…

Unleash the RAPTR 🦖 ROAR 🔥 Our in situ furnace provides a new window into dynamic structures and reaction kinetics by fast heating or quench cooling from RT to 1000C in less than 10s. @StonyBrookChem @EfrcGenesis

#OTB: Carbon capture is one strategy for mitigating the impacts of climate change. Researcher Karena Chapman and colleagues from @StonyBrookChem (New York) are using the Brockhouse beamline at CLS to study metal-organic frameworks as one potential “sponge” for soaking up CO2.
