A 2023 law, co-sponsored by Trump’s secretary of state pick, should make it much harder for the U.S. to withdraw from NATO. For @NOTUSreports, I talked to some Senate Dems about their efforts to “Trump-proof” the alliance: notus.org/congress/trump…

I know there were a lot of early takes last week that the Dem base stayed home. But as the votes continue to be counted, we now know that Harris won more votes than Biden in 4 of 7 battlegrounds and ran almost exactly even with him across the 7 states.

No recess appointments. We need a record of these votes. Make them vote.

We are closing in on 10,000 letters to Senators demanding they not let Trump slide through recess appointments! Awesome! Send yours here: actionnetwork.org/letters/tell-y…

What is the point of being an elected legislator who refuses to hold the executive branch in check? Recess appointments designed to get around Senate confirmations—you’re rolling over? Do you have self respect, or not?

A cautionary tale for all journalists. Aides/advisers will offer assurances/explanations. Trump will do whatever he wants.

Dems going after dumb, costly regulations and the "licensing officials and regulators" who mindlessly enforce "the rules." More, please.

BREAKING: Marie Gluesenkamp Perez is one of very few Democrats who won in a heavily red district. Make sure every American sees this video showing off her successful playbook.

Still seeing "Harris couldn't turn out millions of Biden voters," and the count in swing states says that's not true. In Wisconsin, Harris got 37k more votes than Biden. The most votes of any Dem candidate since Obama in 2008. She lost bc Trump added 77k more votes since 2020.

I won’t pretend that “Trump’s a threat to democracy” was an effective political message. It clearly wasn’t. But that doesn’t mean it wasn’t true. America has eroded a core pillar of its identity by collectively legitimizing election denialism, corruption, law-breaking, and the…

This is 100% it, and it leads to the followup question “Why was Biden so unpopular when a lot of fundamentals were quite strong?” And the answer is INFORMATION ENVIRONMENT

My initial take on Trump's win: goodauthority.org/news/where-to-… His gains were widespread, so explanations should start with the broadest factors -- not with bespoke stories about states, cities, counties, and groups. The simplest explanation: party of unpopular incumbent loses. 1/2

people who had a clue about what is actually going on in the country voted for Harris by huge margins.

Don’t ask whose fault this was. Plenty of time for second-guessing and recriminations. Ask instead, what can you do? For my part, that means telling the truth as I see it, as long as I can. The media will be under a lot of pressure to toe the line; don’t capitulate in advance

One of Trump's clearest "accomplishments" is how thoroughly he's desensitized America to behavior that, in another era, voters would have deemed disqualifying. Plenty of blame to go around—media, craven GOP pols, blundering Dems—but this may be one of his most enduring legacies.
