OK everyone. My lack of enthusiasm for right-wing extremism and sexbots means I'm outta here. I have migrated to the other place, but it will mostly be bird content: bsky.app/profile/jdean1….

I don't understand how UKRI thinks it can retain the confidence of scientists/academics if it is so keen to comply with the current government's hard right, anti-science policy agenda. Absolute fucking shambles....

Yesterday, UKRI responded to a letter from Secretary of State, Michelle Donelan. Now we are publishing that response and the Terms of Reference for the review we are setting up.

I have published a new article (open access), in @CapitalClass2: 'From solidarity to self-promotion? Neoliberalism and left politics in the age of the social media influencer'. The irony of my promoting it on here is not lost on me. Abstract appended. journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/03…

Very pleased to be a signatory to this letter, in solidarity with the women harassed by Boaventura de Sousa Santos, against the culture of academic stardom that enabled it, and against @routledgebooks for pulling the chapter detailing the harassment. buala.org/en/mukanda/ope…

Maybe a long shot but anyone in or near Leeds on Thursday who wishes to hear me talk about pop culture, populism, discourse theory and cultural studies as part of @populismPSA conference is very welcome to do so. No registration necessary. Details appended.

A final word on the Boaventura case: I am morbidly curious to see if the prominent UK sociologists who signed *that* latter will say anything. And it will be interesting to see if the UK sociology community will continue to laud them for their supposed radicalism and criticality.

I just want to say that all my love, respect, & solidarity is with Moira Millán, Bella Gonçalves, Lieselotte Viaene, Miye Tom, Catarina Laranjiero & all women who have spoken out about abusive figures in academia. It takes courage to speak out against powerful profs /1

Since Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis are trending, check out the names of the professors who signed an open letter supporting Boaventura de Sousa Santos. This just shows that decolonial "theory's cool but theory with no practice ain't shit." other-news.info/open-letter-fr…

For all the people who've liked/shared my ramblings about the Boaventura de Sousa Santos case (thank you), please have a read of this thread. The chapter in question can still be downloaded here: researchgate.net/publication/36…

We stand in solidarity with the authors of Chapter 12 of the book 'Sexual Misconduct in Academia'. The book has been withdrawn from publication by @routledgebooks after complaints were made about the chapter. [paywall, sorry]: timeshighereducation.com/news/sexual-mi…
