Nice to see a Kohima Shin Guntō (‘new military sword’) on @BBC_ARoadshow The show’s guest’s great uncle brought it back after serving in the 2nd British Division, who relieved the original garrison of Kohima in April 1944.

Ieder jaar herdenken we begin november de bevrijding van Walcheren in 1944. Dit (en volgend) jaar zijn er extra bijzondere herdenkingen, omdat het 80 jaar geleden is dat kernen in onze gemeente werden bevrijd. Vandaag was de onthulling van het het Invasiemonument in Westkapelle.

🇬🇧 🇵🇱 Remembering Sue Ryder on the anniversary of her passing. She worked for SOE's Polish section and saw first hand the suffering that war brought and helped many displaced people after the war. She married Leonard Cheshire VC and like him, dedicated her life to helping others.
