PERSONAL NEWS: I’m heading back on paternal leave until 2025, shifting from articles on California politics to stories about brown bears, hands/fingers/thumbs, etc. Feeling grateful for this generous leave to spend with my sweet, ever-changing baby. See you next year!

You can’t only help those in need if they voted for you. It’s the most basic part of being president, and this guy knows nothing about it.

NEW: Two former Trump White House officials told me they had to show voter data to Trump to get him to release disaster funding to CA wildfire victims. He released it after learning that he had as many GOP supporters in Orange Co. as he did in Iowa. eenews.net/articles/helen…

Luckily (?) for California should Trump win, the state still has 5.5 million Republicans

The political incentives just aren't there for #CALeg to override a @GavinNewsom veto. Most electeds are more motivated by avoiding the wrong, risky move -- antagonizing the powerful governor, for some example -- than by taking a big swing

The Legislature raised its hackles and growled but quickly rolled over and showed its belly to Newsom on his gas-price special session. That's nothing new. Lawmakers haven't overridden a gov veto since before I was born, @SameeaKamal reports. calmatters.org/politics/2024/…

Padres v Dodgers! San Diego v LA! @SenToniAtkins v @RendonAD62! It’s all happening baby

I have many, many thoughts about LA redistricting, but this isn’t what I was expecting from ⁦@AGRobBonta⁩. Would love to see the map he is envisioning… I guess I have to start drawing this myself. latimes.com/california/sto…

Our next Governor needs to be laser focused on solving Californians’ biggest challenges, most of all cost of living.
